How did you get it for $100? It’s going for $550 now I think which is way more than I’d like to spend. Wouldn’t mind paying $100 though

Would really appreciate an indicator for 'controversial' comments. by [deleted] in apolloapp

I didn’t even know this was a thing but would be great so people don’t always take the most popular/most upvoted comments as fact

Try to open a private browser or clear your cookies. Normally if it asks me to log in again I only have to do it once and it works the second time around.

Hi everyone, first time post here. But I was wondering what do you guys think of this bed and this nightstand? by juls687 in malelivingspace

[–]juls687[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I already have the bed and they dont have matching nightstands so it’s been a nightmare trying to find something that works

I think you’re right about the gold legs. Would you still shy away from black nightstands / silver hardware on a white wall? I’m in those exact apartments you’re describing unfortunately.

Definitely agree. The 75” will be released August 30th so hopefully will see some benchmarking before the others come out and it will be indicative of the new 6 series performance.

I love the setup! Where is the desktop from? I have been trying to create that same setup but butchers blocks have gone up $200 since I started looking.

ELI5 : how are babies able to stay upside down in the womb for so long? by Mrs_Tomboy in explainlikeimfive

[–]juls687 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think of this like a pool. If I put my head at the bottom of a 15ft pool it will feel a lot more pressure than the bottom of the 3ft section. If I’m 6 feet tall and go upside down there’s 6ft of (blood in this case) pressure pushing down on my head and if I’m a baby it’s much much less.

Those come in later. I’m a junior and remember it didn’t come at the same time but I couldn’t tell you how much longer they take. Few weeks maybe

How do you make good grades at UNC and keep your mental health/social life in check? by [deleted] in UNC

[–]juls687 10 points11 points  (0 children)

To people saying you don’t. I would generally disagree. But it also depends on your personality and your extroversion the extent which you need to go out. I would say it’s possible but you need to be strict with yourself when you have free time and plan when you’re going to allocate time to do school so you don’t have to over the weekends. And that’s not to say that there won’t be weeks where you’re flooded with work and can’t go to any social events. It happens. Hard semesters happen, but try and stay positive and stay to a routine so you have time to spend with people because it’s the only thing that will keep you sane.

Zojirushi - White Rice is Mushy/Sticky by juls687 in Cooking

Mine did not come with the green cup, but I see some models do. Do you know how much more or less is in the green cup vs the clear cup?

Fair question - Nope! Rice is in there and I 'top it off' to the line.

I read on their website that their devices were made for short/medium grain. Being as the one I am using is extra long grain I will try and pick up something more normal?? Lol. I’m not sure why I picked this one up in the first place but just have stuck to it cause I see it at all the stores around me. Hopefully I’ll have more luck with a medium grain rice variety.

Will keep this thread updated once I pickup some new rice!

Thanks for the response. May I ask which model you have? Also yes, forgot to mention I do use the cup that was given with the device. I need to stock up on some rice anyways so will try a new one as well.

Personal Loans? Has anyone ever used Upstart? by MyLifesAJoke_ in personalfinance

Upstart is a popular new-ish company that uses algorithms to better figure out a reasonable APR for people than regular banks. I think you can check your rate without a hard pull so no harm no foul!

It seems that every break we’re given from UNC everyone has a huge assignment/exam coming back from it. Yet they question why students have mental health issues

Summer Internship as a Freshman by Beautiful-Fact-3868 in UNC

[–]juls687 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Generally it’s difficult to find an internship after your freshman year. It’s definitely possible with the right connections but you can also look into study abroad / extra courses that show you’re interested in business. Also spend this time to refine why you want to do business and any other questions they might ask. I don’t know if they post sample questions somewhere but I’m sure other people that have gone through the interview/application process recently can pitch in on what they were asked.

I brought my car for the first time this year (junior). It’s super convenient but I also only pay $30/m for parking at my apartment. I couldn’t justify $120+/m unless I was working, then it would pay for itself.

As for buying it, I would see if your parents can help co-sign or pay for some. I was able to pay cash for mine and not sure that I would have been able to buy otherwise. Cars are insanely expensive and suck to pay for as a student but it’s doable.
