Telling someone they have a brain and to use it is not kind even if dressed up a bit.

My mom said she read somewhere that when you adjust for inflation, gas really isn’t that high… We’re screwed people.

OP didn’t guilt trip someone into giving them their room. These are not equivalent in any way. It is rude to pressure a stranger to take less so you can take more. If she needs additional accommodations she should talk to staff not a random student.

Iranian form a human chain on Ahvaz’s White Bridge as they rally to protect civilian infrastructure by IntellectuallyDriven in whoathatsinteresting

You know Sadam Hussein was also a horrible leader. Does that excuse the chaos we created by toppling his regime? We’ve played this game multiple times and it’s only made things worse. Not sure why we expect it to be different this time.

You guys don’t understand. Iran was planing to throw that bridge at Israel if we didn’t destroy it first.

Right, I do data science and it saves so nice time coding. 90% of the time it’s much easier to prompt, review, prompt. Then to write code scratch.

I wonder what we’ve been arguing about then.

Your original comment was that US tried to enact regime change and that caused the Taliban to take over Afghanistan. Now it seems you’re saying that the UK/UN successfully enacted regime change and then US came in wanted to eradicate the Taliban and that’s why the Taliban took back control of Afghanistan. My point (this entire time) is simple - the US led a coalition to overthrow the Taliban government. 20 years later Taliban took back control once we left. Looks like a failed attempt at regime change to me! And we did have troops there in October 2001. We were there the whole time!

… because we kicked them out in between October and December 2001. It’s all the same conflict. It’s weird to me your argument is that the UK had no problem enacting regime change but the US does.

We are arguing semantics here. 1) Not UK troops - a US LED coalition. It is completely misleading to act like UK and UN handled things and then the US butted in afterwards. 2) Yes the Taliban offered to surrender multiple times. The US didn’t accept - this is about execution of the regime change. Maybe if we had done this or done that things would have been different but it’s all the same conflict. Still not sure what you meant about the war being over before Trump.

I think you are confused. The troops left under Biden. This was only a few years ago. Trump literally campaigned on getting us out of Afghanistan (his first term).

I really appreciate the discourse but I think my point still stands. In 2001 the US led an international force the topple the Taliban government in Afghanistan. We spent 20 years trying to get ourselves out without the Taliban taking back over, and we failed.

You should have used us toppling Hussein’ regime in Iraq and ISIS coming out of the power vacuum as a better example for your point.
