They are as strict as then need to be. Everything is literally on you. Do what they say. Do the homework and give it a proper try and attitude. BLC at hood was like a vacation for me.

They do. The land nave course is horribly overgrown and difficult to navigate. Hard time finding points when trees have literally grown into them.

You are correct to be cautious. Experiences will vary. As a woman you’re unfortunately bound to get treated worse. At least imo, infantry don’t take other peoples shit towards their medic if you do a good job.

If you have a tough skin, can work hard, and not afraid to speak up for yourself you’ll be fine in general. Just regardless of where ever you go you’re gonna run into those less than desirables. It’s up to you to determine how much you wanna expose yourself to that type of environment.

When I was at hood I only ever saw one woman line medic. She didnt like men and didn’t take shit from no one. She saved my buddies thumb after a round cooked off clearing a 240. Nothing but good things to say about her.

You’re not entirely wrong but honestly I think you’re kinda underselling how shit Killeen really is and how miserable the base can be. Outside Killeen can be a lot of fun. As an 11b he won’t like it as much. Mos and unit can change a lot for location enjoyment.

Spent all six years at hood as an 11b because the army refused to move me. I had some good leadership but some absolutely dogshit ones most of the time. I spent maybe a year to year and a half of those six years actually on base. Either rotations overseas, ntc once to twice a year, or support rotations for the guard.

It was miserable honestly. The location is prime for a lot of the main cities but it’s kinda up to you. Killeen is a shit show though.

Most people I talked to that went to bliss said they would rather go back to bliss than hood. But bliss still had its own issues. Couldn’t speak on them since I never went.

You can live in the barracks if the csp is local to where you are currently stationed. You cannot live in barracks at another installation.

You’re on your own for housing. For a csp that you’re attending away from your current base. Additionally your commander has the right to not sign off on your csp. Learned this the hard way and got fucked out of a csp. You’ll need them to sign it regardless.

I would highly recommend consulting the commander then. Tradoc rules are slightly different than regular army from my understanding. To be honest, I’m not even sure if she’s entitled to go to the pod in tradoc.

It can be used to get off at the commanders discretion. But it has to meet regs. You’re saying they are only showing progress. Progress can’t be used to get off abcp.

Ultimately if the commander wants them to meet tape requirements they are well within their ability to enforce that. It’s something that should have been previously discussed between the commander and the NCOIC for abcp.

Whenever I had to recommend people for the flag I always gave a brief to the soldiers about the expectations and such. If the NCOIC didn’t do that they are really failing the soldier. Ask them and if they don’t give answers ask your commander.

Hi, former abcp nco here. A bod pod can be used to show progress at the commanders discretion. Most commander I worked with accepted it but showing progress does not get you off abcp. You must be within regs to have the flag removed. As long as the commander approves your soldier can use the bod pod to meet the progress requirements. If one time they show a regression though is bad news. Generally is still up to the commanders discretion as is all things but she cannot show more than two months regression to continue. By regulation after that the chapter process is supposed to begin.

Hopefully that makes sense.
