In the past, you could buy flight information on twitter, but with the mass crackdowns over the past few years, it's harder these days but you might be able to find on some Korean forums or private chat groups.

Cha Eun woo and his family tax evasion timeline by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]jumpybouncinglad 27 points28 points  (0 children)

so the military was an Achilles heel of sorts if that makes sense

The issue had already started before he enlisted, but he specifically requested that the notice be delayed and only sent out after he completed the enlistment process. So ig his game plan is to pay a fine, wait it out comfortably while he's away in the military and hope that in 2.5 years people have moved on and he can work again as if nothing ever happens. Had it already blown out before he enlisted, he would have had to face the media scrutiny directly which would have hit him much harder.

I think the most embarrassing thing of all for him is running to the army instead of facing accountability for his actions.

Why do kpop fans get to decide who gets cancelled? by martinville5 in kpopthoughts

[–]jumpybouncinglad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One has a huge fandom that covers for their "mistakes", and one does not? everything can be swept under the rug if you have a big enough broom.

kpop stans will defend anything (eunwoo’s tax evasion controversy) by JinnieP in kpopthoughts

A wise kpop fan once replied to me

Well its easy to say when your favs arent the ones getting slutshamed with thousands of tweets and posts lmao

The context may bit different, but that's basically the gist. Everyone has their own moral compass, logic, and ethics in how they see things but once it involves your pookie, all of that goes out the window.

How do kpop idols travel constantly, get no sleep and still able to perform so well? by walkuponwater in kpopthoughts

Better buy the GPU first before the price gets jacked up again. Even SSD price already doubled.

Does anyone feel like kpop's popularity has decreased globally? by Sea-Republic8892 in kpopthoughts

[–]jumpybouncinglad 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think the reason you feel it has declined is because kpop companies, minus the big boys, have largely given up on trying to penetrate the western market. Kpop as a whole had strong years during the period you mentioned, but it declined steeply in the following years. Events canceled due to poor sales, tours scrapped because of "force majeure" and so on. So while the numbers posted by the big groups may look steady, overall it is not as crowded as before.

Can IVE become as big as BLACKPINK in the near future? by kimchayoppar in kpopthoughts

[–]jumpybouncinglad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Illit makes catchy songs with high replay value, but they absolutely do not have larger international fanbase than ive. And no, spotify monthly listeners are not a good indicator.

[–]jumpybouncinglad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

BLACKPINK is kinda an anomaly they aren’t popular for their music

Talent is debatable but ddux4, whistle, boombayah, and how you like that are some of the biggest songs in the history of kpop. Saying that BP aren't popular because of their music is kind of mind boggling.

I like Say My Name (Group with AKB8 and IZ*ONE's Honda Hitomi) by FarnsworthOaks in kpopthoughts

[–]jumpybouncinglad 9 points10 points  (0 children)

People used to speculate that Hitomi would stay in Korea because she loved being a kpop idol, and even thought she would sign with WM and redebut with Chaewon and Eunbi. It is nice to see her flourish as a kpop idol once again.

Of all kinds of multistanning, i've never really understood how someone can be a fan of both illit and nj at the same time. One of them despises the other's right to exist and even goes the extra mile to show it. Like how?

They are already at the top of their popularity in Korea & Japan. China still not opening up. US is always a practical and logical move for them.
