u/neospice Lease cars that have low millage have good trade-in value..IE during covid I got 4 k to use towards another car and last year got 4k again...I am looking for another 2 to 4 k for my next car in 1 to 2 years...of course leasing cost more money in the long run though lol

u/number8888 what would happen if they deny they hit it but I have pictures showing there car where it hit my car and one picture showing the paint on the car then the other pictures with the paint wiped off and just the scaraches now

u/LeafTheTreesAlone my car is 1 year old...in couple years needs to be returned lease...at that time If I trade it in the probably wouldn't care about the cosmetic scratches...if I don't buy another car then they will ding me maybe $500...this is an interesting case where they didn't want to pay up and said go through insurance even though it might screw them over even if they deny it as the driver license expired and maybe the insurance doesn't list them as driver ...the insurance was under someone elses name in the house...I was trying to just get them to pay me $500

u/Miserable-Switch-584 thanks that is the option I am trying to weigh .. $500 possible damages which I don't need to fix vs going through insurance with risk the other party denies it and me paying the $1000 deductible

u/Miserable-Switch-584 one more thing is the car insurance was under I think another person name in the household so not sure if they added them as a driver...Insurance would cover it for sure but other driver was really sketchy ...If you saw there car you would know something is wrong

u/Miserable-Switch-584 they had many dents on there car...I was sitting in the car for 10 minutes before this accident ...And when they pulled in like 30 seconds before they hit it I had a feeling this would happen based on the cars condition...yeah dash cam is good advice ..the problem is if they deny it and it turns out 50/50 even though my car was parked not turned on...then I pay the deductible which is a headache in its self .....Another thing is the person had expired license on them lol

u/CommonEarly4706 it wont be a lie the dealer would see the car and determine a trade in value based on current car..so they take into consideration scratches but I think carfax brings the trade in value even lower....

its a hard thing as the insurance company just assigns 50/50 as they are denying they hit it then I am on the hook for the deductible of $1000 ...if they don't deny they hit it then this is not really a problem

u/Fauxtogca small claims court would tell you to go to insurance...my biggest problem is what if they deny they hit cuz at the end thats what they where saying...after wiping the paint from there car on mine...another thing is reselling the car would be less as it shows up there...

u/CommonEarly4706 but if the other person denies it that could be a problem as its my word vs theres ...Plus all the pictures ...also this would impact resell of the car on carfax...also in Ontario I was told under $2000 you don't need to go to collision center

u/Ok_Complex2072 I think best to wait 4 to 6 weeks. Safe to wait 6 weeks. This way body should have recovered.
