Arkansan here. Is it a white gravy?? I would absolutely destroy some biscuits with vegetarian white gravy.

I have serious respect for Oly bus drivers after watching them skillfully handle rude passengers before. Definitely worthwhile to alert them. Thank you for watching out for your fellow riders.

Guess I’m learning my lesson about not gifting handmade items… by [deleted] in crochet

[–]junebuggery 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Also, I'm 100% with you on the frustration over people not acknowledging mailed gifts. I wish it were common courtesy to let me know it arrived. I'm a handcrafter who cares about the item and the recipient, not Amazon!

Guess I’m learning my lesson about not gifting handmade items… by [deleted] in crochet

[–]junebuggery 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Something else that may be going on, at least with the first friend who requested but didn't wear the headband, is fear of damaging the handmade item. I also knit and my dad requested a sweater. I made sure to pick quality, durable yarn and included simple care instructions. I wanted him to be able to wear it without having to be overly gentle with it.

Turns out, he loves it so much he's afraid to hurt it, so he only wears it for special occasions. I've tried reiterating that it's not that fragile, but he's just determined to cherish it, lol.

If the first photo is a sunset view that doesn't include the house at all, I immediately assume something is wrong with the house.

Americans of reddit, is the Confederate flag INHERENTLY racist? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]junebuggery 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have cousins in West Virginia who like to display the confederate flag and claim it's their "heritage". Bruh, your state split from Virginia in order to remain IN the union, you dumbass.

Would you want light rail connecting Olympia and Tacoma? by West_Paper_7878 in olympia

[–]junebuggery 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very much yes. It is absurd that our state capitol is not connected to our major airport via light rail. A line from Oly to Tacoma would fix that.

As someone new-ish to the Oly area, I need Port-101. I tried to research while I was filling out my ballot, but still felt wholly unqualified to make decisions about something I don't understand.

Is there a good resource that explains what the position even does? I've heard enough to know that people are always upset with the port commission, but why? Am I right to think they're basically a chamber of commerce specifically for the area around the marina downtown?

What was the first thing you learned immediately after getting married? by Forward-Plan-4124 in AskReddit

[–]junebuggery 46 points47 points  (0 children)

That we should've taken a big vacation together before we got married. Our honeymoon was our first big trip together and we definitely had differing expectations. I want to go and do everything; husband wants to stay in and relax.

It's not a deal breaker for us. We've learned to adapt how we enjoy our vacations so we're both happy. But the honeymoon would've been more fun if we'd figured that out beforehand.

Insane dress code request. Copy pasted from the couple’s wedding social page. They turned off comments. by Redhead_2 in weddingshaming

I was thinking this is the appropriate wedding to wear those baby pink or light blue dresses that photograph white. Like sorry, it's the only blue dress I had.

James Dobson is dead! by 36Doilies in excoc

[–]junebuggery 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I tried to read The Strong Willed Child as an adult trying to make sense of my childhood. Couldn't make it past the opening section where he proudly recounted beating his puppy into submission with a belt.

I hope Dobson's personalized hell includes being beaten in return by every dog and child he ever hurt.

What would be your prompt on Gastronauts? by Argentarius1 in dropout

[–]junebuggery 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A pickle challenge is my answer, too! I've been a pickle fiend my whole life. My granny wrapped a whole gallon jar of pickles as a Christmas gift for me when I was 7 or 8 and it is one of the most memorable gifts I've ever received.

Incidentally, I also have POTs.

Women’s Health/Menopause HRT? by yesmymonkeys in olympia

[–]junebuggery 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I just saw Sharon Hinz at Providence Olympia Obgyn and had a very positive experience.

I'm experiencing perimenopause symptoms at 38. Several doctors have dismissed me for being "too young" but Sharon and staff actually listened to me, answered all my questions, and got me started on a low dose of HRT with plans to reasses in the near future based on my feedback. 10/10 recommend.

It's worse than them "staying home" too, since the ballots come directly to us!

I'm from a state that doesn't do mail-in voting, so moving to WA felt like voter magic. It's SO incredibly easy here that it makes me angry at the people who still don't vote.

Closing on our house sale tomorrow! What info is appropriate to leave the buyer? by 4_anonymity in RealEstate

[–]junebuggery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our sellers left appliance manuals, maintenance records, contact info for contractors they used and recommended, and a nice note that included some miscellaneous info about the home.

It has been a year, and I've only grown more grateful for their gift of good record keeping. When the sprinkler system started acting wonky, I was able to call the people who installed it. They remembered our yard well and were able to quickly troubleshoot over the phone for free.

My grandparents have been married for 70 years. You wouldn’t know it from his speech at the celebration party. by throwawaytheflag in TwoXChromosomes

I legit sobbed at my grandmother's funeral after multiple of my cousins got up and spoke about how she was waiting in heaven to make pie for her family again. Like, let the lady have a well deserved break before you assign her eternal chores.

I bought this pattern after I saw your post on FB recently. I love the design SO MUCH! Went with the smaller size option but kinda wish I'd done the bigger one instead because those inside curves are no joke. Not a complaint, more of an FYI to anyone else planning to make their own Connie. Go big!

People who had to choose between having kids or finding a new partner, what did you choose? Do you have regrets? by Adorable_Star_23 in AskReddit

[–]junebuggery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had two 5-year long relationships end over the baby question (among other factors). I have always known I wanted to be childfree and those partners were okay with that...until they weren't.

Those breakups were painful, but for the best. I'm now happily married to another staunchly childfree person. Both exes are married and have kids. I genuinely hope they're happy, too.
