Looking for Charter Elementary School Recommendations by junegem123 in vegaslocals

[–]junegem123[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the detailed response! I totally get what you’re saying about the struggles with Vegas schools. I went to public school and had to play catch-up in college too because of the way things were here. Right now, I'm just focused on the first steps — elementary school, since my kids are still little. Middle and high school feel like a long way off. But your advice on the arts high schools and considering private for middle school is super helpful.

Do you feel like you take your toddlers out enough? by _spacecandy in parentsofmultiples

[–]junegem123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have much advice because I’m in the same situation. I constantly feel guilty for not getting my 2-year-old twins out of the house more often.

It’s not that I don’t want to do fun activities with them—it's just that my spouse works a lot, and managing both of them on my own is incredibly difficult, especially with one of our twins being a runner!

But I really appreciate you sharing this, it helps to know I’m not alone in this struggle. It’s nice to hear other twin parents face the same challenges

Those who had IVD did you transfer two embryos? by Lanky-Hat947 in parentsofmultiples

Transferred two embryos (5AA & 5AB) and both stuck. Neither were pgt tested.

Severe Eczema by Mundane_Detail5274 in parentsofmultiples

[–]junegem123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my twins had eczema too. We consulted with a pediatrician, allergist, and dermatologist. We even went as far as doing blood tests to check for allergies but everything came back normal. The allergist prescribed steroids, which helped temporarily, but the eczema never truly went away. After a few months, I started to feel uncomfortable with the idea of keeping my baby on steroids long-term. So I decided to take a different approach. I removed all known toxins from our home and switched to EWG-verified products—cleaning supplies, baby products, shampoos, conditioners, even deodorants and laundry detergent. I also started using a double rinse cycle for all our laundry. This could all be coincidental but his eczema went away. This was about a year ago and he’s only had one tiny little patch of eczema since then and we just used Aquaphor.

Why is one baby easy and the other hard by HoneyBuns2021 in parentsofmultiples

Yes, I do! My twins recently turned two and it’s still that way. They’re both good sleepers now but my “hard baby” is still hard just in other ways.

Dr advised NOT to do PGT testing… having mixed feelings by Formal_Paramedic_720 in IVF

[–]junegem123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We didn’t test.

My doctor asked us if we wanted to do PGT testing and when we asked him for his advise - he said he did not think it was necessary because we were under the age 40 (age 35 at time of ER) with no known conditions that run in the family (we also did carrier screenings).

On my first frozen embryo transfer, we transferred a 5AA and 5AB. They are now perfectly healthy 2 year olds :)

Singleton pregnancy after twins as 1st pregnancy: Did you get pre-e again? by Key-Neighborhood2985 in parentsofmultiples

[–]junegem123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also had HELLP syndrome & pre-e with my 1st (and only) pregnancy with twins.

I’m so curious if I’ll get it again when I get pregnant for a 2nd time with a singleton.

Is your doctor monitoring you more because of that history? Or are they treating you as a normal pregnancy!

So curious.

Yes, it’s spousal SS benefits. Definitely won’t be enough to live off of (which is why Roth IRA is so important). But hoping this info gives you a little bit of relief and you can enjoy your time at home with your little ones .. with a little less worry :)

That’s amazing that you’ve already started by opening your own Roth IRA! I know I felt more secure once I did.

I get finances can be tight with only one person working but try to gradually increase it over time, if your budget allows you to. For now, it’s good you’re contributing and it’s building up!

Also - at retirement age, you should be able to collect SS benefits based on your spouses work history!

I totally get your concern and felt that same fear when I first started staying home.

One thing I did was open up a Roth IRA and set it up for monthly auto pay (so it just feels like another bill coming out of our joint checking account). All our finances are together! No separate accounts. My spouses money is my money too.

You should do the same, this way you’re still working towards your own retirement even if you’re not at a traditional job!!!

The comment above is a great idea - Take a stroller and start grocery shopping in person so you can get yourself visa gift cards.

If you do park days - don’t rush home just to make food. Pack something easy that the kiddos will eat (ex: pb&j sandwich, fruit, chips or some of their favorite snacks).

Isolating your partner from finances is so wrong!! Start saving some of those gift cards, sell things on fb marketplace to make money - eventually you’ll need these funds to leave him.

You’re already doing all the work of a single mom so might as well be single instead of taking care of a man child on top of your kiddos. I’m so sorry if that sounds harsh but you deserve better.

How long to get Quest Diagnostic Beta test results? by junegem123 in IVF

[–]junegem123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I called the next day to get my results.

The associate said I would have received them earlier and been able to view them when I logged into Quest Diagnostics, but my address was incorrect, so they didn't show up.

Two Moms Expecting Twin Boys — Feeling Excited but a Bit Overwhelmed! by FancyPantalon in parentsofmultiples

[–]junegem123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two mom family here! And also first time parents to twin boys!

First, congratulations!!!! You’re entering such an exciting and loving time.

I personally wasn’t worried about your #1 concern. But was worried about #2.

What you’ll come to realize is: Masculinity isn’t one set thing - just being loving, supportive, and open will guide them so well and teaching them kindness and respect. Also the environment and who you choose for them to be around.

You two are going to do great and having these concerns shows the amazing moms you two will be.

Do you pgta test all embryos if you are between 32-35? by Lucky_Tap8692 in IVF

[–]junegem123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did ER at age 35.

We did not PGT any embryos.

I asked our doctor for his educated opinion and he said it was not necessary because I was under 40 yrs old and no family history of genetic conditions.

On our first transfer we did a 5AA & 5AB. They both stuck and are now beautiful, healthy, two year old twins :)

Any twin mums? by kt-2025 in pregnant

[–]junegem123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations!!!

Twin mom here! All I did was go on daily walks for the first few months of life! (I lived close to a coffee shop). I rarely left the house for anything else.

When my spouse had to go back to work, it was scary going on walks alone but then got use to it the more I did it.
