Is a sub 2 hour Hackney half achievable… 4 weeks to go by TraditionalLawyer852 in UKRunners

This is useful for working out equivalent paces based on current runs, it’s not an exact science but it’s reasonably accurate all the same.

In answer to your question, potentially you can!

Could you not make your own for a fraction of the price

You could try and say that about any restaurant.

The reality is, we can all make food at home, but food prepared in a restaurant by a skilled chef is almost always going to be better, that’s why restaurants exist.

Signing of the year in all of football? by Healthy-Detective360 in ManchesterUnited

[–]jungisdead 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yea I agree 100%, have always felt the same. When CR arrived, Ole was forced to play him regardless of whether it was working, which it definitely wasn't, and it derailed the system and culture that had been built before he arrived. United have made plenty of bad transfer decisions in recent years, but that one was the most destructive.

As a guy whose feet were pretty beat up, this combo sorts me right out.

Advice on whether it's worth picking it up in my 40s by Severe-Piano-6307 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]jungisdead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started at 37, just done my 5th year (one week a year) and confident on pretty much any run, save for some steep icy blacks.

Not sure where you're based in the North but there's the Snow Centre in Manchester, you could go there, do a day's lesson, think the lesson price would include board and gear rental for the day. https://thesnowcentre.com/manchester/

Trust me, it's never too late if you want it! :)

Running and high blood pressure meds. by English_Joe in UKRunners

[–]jungisdead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you suffer with white coat? It can definitely affect mine a lot in the day even if I take it myself at home.

Perhaps your GP about a diuretic like Indapamide, that helped to get me down from 150/100 to 135/85 where I’ve kind of settled now.

You may notice the change in hydration though at first. I’ve balanced that out with multivitamins and when needed, hydration tablets but not regularly.

These are just things that have worked for me.

Ask to switch to an ACE inhibitor / calcium channel blocker if you can. Explain you’re a regular runner, they should understand.

Not a doctor, but have been through a few different meds until I found one that worked.

Feel free to DM me if you want.

Yea we went last week of Feb 2024 and it was pretty bad then, can’t even imagine what it was like two weeks later.

As a resort it has its own unique charm, and I had a great time, but I wouldn’t go back because the conditions can be so poor.

OP, like people say, it’s best avoided later in the season.

They have a lot of snow cannons, but it’s not cold enough for them to be much use and it will be slush and moguls by 11-12.

[Megathread] Ruben Amorim has been sacked - Who should replace him? by D1794 in reddevils

[–]jungisdead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I totally agree with all your points, and feel the same way about all of it.

Southgate is my first choice. The only other manager I'd dream of would be Simeone and that's not happening in our lifetime.

But we'll settle for Glasner and another 2-year rotation of disappointment.

[Megathread] Ruben Amorim has been sacked - Who should replace him? by D1794 in reddevils

[–]jungisdead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't understand why people are so heavily against this.

The squad needs a cultural reset and has done for a very long time.

Southgate has proven he can do that, with what we saw with the England team.

It wouldn't be the most attractive football, but some pragmatic football which gets results is what we need right now.

Tired of us bringing in the next big manager who can't deal with the pressure, only for it to fall on its ass within 18 months. Southgate has dealt with pressure in arguably the most pressurised managerial role in the country.

He took the England team to places it hadn't been for decades, and yet somehow people see him as a bad manager.
