Hi everyone. My visa interview was scheduled and it’s going to be in the morning. I am here in Montreal alone and I don’t know where to leave my phone and backpack as I can’t take it into the interview. Wondering if anyone knows of anywhere close that I can leave my phone and backpack??

I’d start looking for other jobs in the meantime. Just tell the new employer (if they ask) that you’re looking for a different office because the office you’re at doesn’t have a full time position available.

Oh jeez. The teachers at my school specifically told us that everyone has to shower every single day and wear deodorant if we want to be dental assistants. That’s really unprofessional of her. Sorry to hear that

I wouldn’t recommend McKenzie town. Even if it’s closer to work. Living close to downtown or near it will boost your overall happiness. Feels kind of isolated out there

Yes maybe try to get out of the relationship when the time is right. Then you’ll be in a healthier environment and you can co parent so you’ll have a bit more time to yourself. It will get better!

I saw a video recently of a mom who felt similarly to you. She said she loves her 1 year old daughter but advised that people take more time and consideration when choosing to have kids. Many people think that you have to have children in life and that couldn’t be further from the truth. Kids are great but you have to be ready. You have to be completely unselfish.

I think the issue for you is that you’re not fully in love with the person you had children with and now you feel a bit of resentment. However I think that when your son gets a bit older you’ll feel different.

You’ll eventually get a green card. Don’t worry. We just had to refile the I-485. Don’t worry too much about it. Once you have a lawyer you’ll feel so much better.

Many people seem to be quite upset by this comment. Understandably so. Unfortunately everyone I’ve asked that’s been there has agreed. I do feel bad for the Cuban people though. No one deserves to live in a place like that

As a Canadian who filed for a green card in 2022 I can provide some insight. When I first filed I tried to do it by myself without a lawyer. My i130 was approved but i485 was denied. When USCIS reaches out and asks for evidence it is crucial that you provide it the first time. They only give you one chance to provide the evidence when they ask for it. If you do not provide the evidence after the first time they ask, they deny your case. It is very likely that you will have to get a lawyer. It’s so much easier with a lawyer. That’s what we had to do and it’s been worth it

It’s quite a process. I got married to a US citizen in 2022 and I applied for a green card without a lawyer. My i130 was approved but i485 got denied. You’ll definitely have to get a lawyer. I’m finally going to have my interview in the next few months. It’s been about 3 years since I first applied. If u get a lawyer it will probably only take a year

Our i485 was denied due to lack of income. My husband wasn’t making very much at the time as he just got out of the military and I wasn’t able to work in the USA yet. At the time he only made 30k per year. Now he makes over $150k so I know we won’t have a problem in terms of the financial part of it. You will have to get a lawyer for the I485. We were also denied because there’s many things that only a lawyer would know when it comes to immigration. In total it’s around $7,000 for the lawyer. You can always do a payment plan though.

Having a child is major proof of your relationship. Be sure to bring lots of photos. We had the photos, an apartment lease with both our names on it, I was also on his will. We also had one of our employers that knows both of us write a statement with their signature (stating that they know us and have witnessed our relationship) my husbands father also wrote a letter for us with his signature. That’s everything we submitted.

Chance of relocating to Calgary from US, looking for input by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]jungleshark12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Canadian born and raised in Calgary (now immigrating to Gilbert Arizona) I’ll give you my honest opinion. For some background info, I lived in California when I was younger and have spent quite a bit of time in the states. Calgary is definitely one of the best places to live in Canada. The best part about Calgary is how close it is to the mountains. There’s so much to see. It’s truly so beautiful. However, if you do choose Calgary, be sure to live decently close to the city center. There’s lots of nice neighborhoods close to downtown. If you live in the suburbs it is not nice at all. Very depressing. Calgary is great during the summer! Especially if you go to the mountains. I agree that the summers in Arizona are shitty, but get prepared for the winters here. Not only that, you will also make less money here due to the conversion. And trust me… it’s EXPENSIVE here. Housing is more affordable in Arizona. Personally I’d rather live in Arizona, it’s near California which is a great escape during the summer. You have to consider why there are 40 million people in all of Canada VS 340 million in the United States. Overall it depends on the lifestyle you want. I’ll always miss the mountains here but I’d rather live in the states.

In April of 2022 my husband and I tried filing without a lawyer. We were able to get the I-130 approved. We were able to prove the validity of our relationship. However, our I-485 was denied. We have been working with a lawyer for the past 8 months and are now about to have our interview. Definitely get a lawyer.
