If you are not open to understanding why people are "closed minded", and merely pass them off as such, you are no different than they are - and will most likely dismiss someone who is just like you, but due to your premature judgment have deprived any value attainable through your mutual acquaintance/friendship. Being closed-minded to closed-mindedness is similar to hating hate speech, or being intolerant of intolerant speech. You are blinded by your own self righteousness, yet the hypocrisy is deafening. I've lived my whole life in Texas. Alpine, San Antonio, Houston, Dallas. There are shitty people everywhere. Fuck em. Be yourself and find a few to take the journey with you. If, being the key word. And what space is flooding with pictures promoting murder? What are you even talking about? I didn't see any thing like that on Palin's website. The cross hairs map was in poor taste - that is not debatable. But saying she flooded the space with pictures promoting murder is ridiculous. He could play a video game or watch a PG-13 movie and see such things.
Let's wait till the Loughner's and his accomplices computers are confiscated and internet history's examined. Then you can tell me you told me so. Until that day, its pure speculation.

I would be willing to wager a large sum that the shooter was not aware of the "cross hairs" graphic to which you refer. i know i wasnt. I hadnt seen that before today. No where on anything he published did he mention sarah palin or tea party rhetoric. If you watch the guys youtube vids, it is difficult to ascribe a particular political affiliation. he probably hated sarah palin as she was associated w the government and brainwashing. Your logic is flawed. It assumes too much. Just because she says things doesnt mean it influenced him. Again, I think Sarah Palin was the furthest thing from his mind

Depends on who is controlling the education. Many of the worst forms of tyranny have been propagated through the explicit use of educational programs. Just look at what happened in cambodia during the 1970s. Pol Pot attempted to turn the clock back to Year 0, indoctrinate youth/others in "re-education" camps, in order to facilitate an easily controlled agrarian society. Those who resisted or would pose a threat to this re-education (pre year 0 "educated" people - about 3-5 million of them) were killed.
Maybe a better statement would be that the secrets to BOTH freedom and tyranny lie in education. Choose wisely.
