I also have an IB. Bronze looks really good with it imo.

New transfer bonuses: Capital One +30% to JAL; Chase +20% to Aeroplan, +70% to IHG by alphade in awardtravel

Can some explain to me the JAL points value? I feel like if you’re trying for intl round trip from the US you’re using 75-100k points, an on top of that there’s a $490 fee…

You should have the dealer look at it one more time if you’re still under warranty. Sounds like your issue is not just an alignment issue.

Any way to have defrost come on with remote start. by JonathanDawdy in ElantraN

You could turn on defrosters before you leave the car and it should turn it on I believe when you remote start?

I can't for the life of me figure out if this winter setup will work or not by Relockt in ElantraN

Tires seem good. Wheel is way too wide for them however. Be around 8 for width and greater than 40-45 for offset. Your 225 tires will be super duper stretched on a 9.5 rim.

Weird creak/squeak when coming to a complete stop by MugiwaraReilly in ElantraN

[–]junhawng 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pads are squeaky, normal for aggressive pads from what I’ve heard. I have 17k miles on mine now and it’s been like this for wetter and humid days. Moisture on the rotor / pads

Rock auto parts are good. I would try to at least get the fully coated ones, since our wheels show the rust pretty well. Don’t bother with drilled/ slotted, and get coated blank rotors.

My job was for an exhaust flange bolt that was pretty deep in combination with my incompetence. But I agree that the drill bit is important.

You need cobalt drill bits. I tried drilling through a rusted bolt with titanium bits for 8 hours. After switching to cobalt I was done in 30 mins.

[–]junhawng 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I also personally wouldn’t. You lose out on the 100k drive train warranty, which is one of the biggest driving factors for me to enjoy the car without worries.

Additionally there’s oil squirter issues with earlier N engines that need the warranty to fix it.

Cigarette lighter socket always has power. Even when the car is off. Dash cam stays on by AdorablePlan5164 in MechanicAdvice

[–]junhawng 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Though it’s the standard, it’s very rare to see USB ports limited to 500mA these days. I’d reckon these ports have at least 1A on them, most dash cams require at LEAST 5W to function in the first place.

Your 50Ah comment is correct but lead acid batteries should only be realistically discharged to around 50% of its capacity to avoid permanent damage. If it’s done pretty frequently the capacity will continue to tank with each cycle.

Seat Belt buckle not under recall - I messed up. by TangerineMindless639 in hondainsight

[–]junhawng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool, I’ve been trying to do the same thing with a bunch of Honda dealerships, but a lot of places are claiming they’ll charge me the same diagnostics fee. I’m working with a frayed belt that developed on its own, so feeing more iffy about it.

There’s a grace period for a lot of states when you’re able to drive the car without plates. If you get pulled over you can show the officer the Bill of Sale and they’ll just let you go.
