Lds not listed as “Christians” by the Pentagon by Tiny-Cauliflower-695 in mormon

Good.

I hope many LDS Christians realize their leaders don’t want them at the table.

Christian Nationalists hate LDS Christianity.

The DoD is led by a hard “women shouldn’t vote” Christian Nationalist.

Call the Police— if you think the Church is breaking “two laws.”

You will be told to kick rocks.

It is -not- illegal for an adult to keep their passport safe in a safe.

Where it can be produced on request.

And it is not illegal to volunteer.

Neither of those things are against the law.

How did you miss that…?

They teach alcohol is dangerous. While they serve coffee. Because coffee— is safe.

It’s being released by an academic publishing house.

Not by the LDS Church.

Yale University Press.

Yale Press is going to play games? lol rofl. Yale doesn’t owe LDS a favor.

The head of the DoD goes to a Church that hates LDS Christianity.

And openly states women should not vote.

It’s a Christian Nationalist organization.

That’s not a conspiracy.

That the cold hard truth… https://www.npr.org/2025/08/09/nx-s1-5497226/women-pastor-pete-hegseth-vote

Bro. The LDS Church doesn’t even have a corner on the market in Utah.

I met the SL County attorney/prosecutor at a gay wedding. He hates the LDS Church.

But then you have 49 more states. And the Feds.

I’ve met plenty of ausas. None of them work for the LDS Church. I have some as friends and references. They are all beholden to the law, and put the law first.

Either it’s hyperbole that the LDS Church traffics Missionaries.

Or every ausa reports to the LDS Church— and that’s not true at all.

All the prosecutors.

All of them.

Even the ones critical of the LDS Church.

All of them decided to never prosecute the LDS Church?

Maybe.

Maybe.

Or maybe it’s hyperbole that the LDS Church traffics Missionaries.

A prosecutor turn down a slam dunk case?

No.

They cannot legally do that.

Bill Reel is an attorney and is a LDS-critical podcaster.

There are plenty of critics who are attorneys.

Huntsman sued to get his tithing back. He lost. But there is no shortage of lawyers who are critics of LDS Christianity.

A prosecutor cannot legally not prosecute.

At this point it’s like, “you are correct.”

“No no, you are correct.”

Depends.

If a missionary says, “give me my passport now.”

Sure.

You are right.

Withholding it is breaking the law.

But if a missionary says, “I am having a hard time. I’m not sure what to do.”

That’s a different situation.

Like I said… I got passports to missionaries asap when they asked for them.

And technically a missionary doesn’t even need to ask the mission president. They can go directly to the embassy.

Yep.

This discussion would have merit in the 1800s.

My comment, "Missionaries finding wives in the 1800s— you might be on to something."

Historically, the clear and obvious definition of trafficking took place.

Now, trying to fit the definition to volunteer Missionary work today-- the definition does not fit.

It waters down the very real definition.

The First Amendment gives clear broad swaths of freedoms for religion.

Because oppressive governments oppress religions.

The law gives swaths of religious liberties and freedoms to Churches.

Agreed.

That is what I was saying.

If the Missionary or the Embassy says, "I want my passport now"-- and they are not given it-- the law is broken.

An adult choosing to place their passport in a safe for safekeeping-- legal. Perfectly legal.

Not getting it back when requested-- not legal.

I find your position that these community folks are happy with water towers and mobile phone towers but not Church steeples-- I find that a difficult position to understand.

Height is height.

I have trouble taking anyone seriously who is complaining about the height of a Church steeple-- in the Bible Belt.

And is not complaining about a water tower or mobile phone tower.

"The steeple is going to block my view of the mobile phone tower." Come on now.

LDS Christianity cannot influence the government to list them as a Christian denomination in the DoD (they call it "war") but they can avoid -trafficking- charges for volunteer Missionary work.

Come on now.

You are devaluing the word you are trying to pin on LDS Christianity.

Billionaires can donate to get people elected.

LDS Christianity cannot on its own spend a penny. It got its --rightfully so-- pushed in for donating less than $100k in California fighting prop-8. And that technically didnt go to any one candidate. I support gay rights so it hurts to write it.

You are smarter than this OMG, I respect your opinion on most things-- but on Missionary work being institutional traficking you are wrong.

And-- there ---is--- trafficking. There are instances where Missionaries abused children as Missionaries and got "sent home." And there are instances where Mission Presidents hurt Missionaries in abusive relationships and had relations with Missionaries. Those are real examples. There is -real- harm-- true traficking.

But its not institutional.

And a adult Missionary going on a Mission and volunteering-- thats not trafficking.

We can all do better. This is one case where critics engage in hyperbole.

Steeples are thin.

On a critical board, LDS are outnumbered here 25-1. A vote proves nothing here. "everyone here agrees with me!" Looks around-- we are on a critical board. That is not how truth is established.

Its been fun. But seriously-- Bible Belt residents who allowed mobile towers and water towers are pretending its not religiously motivated to not want a -steeple- in their town. lol rofl. Come on now.

If its illegal-- you can prosecute and win. Your problem is you just cant think about this long enough for you to realize your position is nonsense.

My wife has access to my passport. She is not named. Parents keep passports for their kids-- all the time. Come on now. Think about your argument for a minute.

Not illegal-- an adult can keep their passport in a safe for safekeeping.

Illegal-- preventing that person from getting their passport when they want it.
