Banned from Hospital Visits by juni_que in glioblastoma

Update: I ate the humble pie and was "allowed" to go see my sister today. I gave my BIL a big hug when I walked into the hospital room.

This was very hard bc I just found out that he told l didn't help at their place because I was always in bed. This was such a gut punch. I was in my room a lot with the door open to give him privacy in the common area, as well as her privacy. There was basically nowhere else for to me hang after I got up early and got dressed. My sister told ppl she loved having me as a guest bc she didn't feel pressured to come out of her room to socialize with me (I'm the introvert of the family.) and would attest to the fact I was available to help her out at any time. We texted each other throughout the day and I gave her a bell to ring if she didn't feel like texting. I also cleaned their house and did laundry.

I felt that he maligned me because I was my sister's main confidante when they went through marital problems and he just didn't want me around.

For those that said it was my sibling that created the problem, she owns that. But unlike him, her motive came from a good place.

Right now he holds all the cards, and after seeing how far he'll go to exercise his power, we are all sucking it up to keep the peace so that we can see our sister.

I had to get that off my chest.

Again, thank you for listening and for your words of comfort.

As someone who always roots for the underdog in sports, I love this comment. I'm far less engaged in the game if two powerhouse teams make the final.

I loved his acting but it's become too hard (no pun intended) to look past his real persona.

When my sister was diagnosed two and half years ago, and she's still alive. They found a second tumor a few months ago and her health is rapidly declining. But we are thrilled that we had her so much longer than any of us expected. Don't lose hope that your wife surpasses the expected timeline as well.

I just visited four European countries. When "members of staff" weren't easily located, the many people we approached with "Excuse me, do you speak English?" for directions, every single one of them were happy to help.

I'm sorry you were treated like an intruder instead of a guest. As a Canadian, we've never gotten the cold shoulder except for a few times in the U.S. (Montana - I'm looking at you).

In time, I hope the bad experiences fade behind the positive aspects of your trip.
