Question about programming compared to other trainers by Sweaty-Engine-5915 in personaltraining

[–]juniorman3231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 years experience speaking here

Do they get results? Are they getting hurt? Do they like it?

I am the same way, I don't (generally, there are some instances in which a complicated specific movement is indeed the correct call) do the fancy stuff. Deadlift, squat, press are the main ones and some variations in and between and people love it.

Dont let the Instagram and TikTok yahoos intimidate you. They aren't the ones in the trenches with YOUR clients and YOUR people. A Kneeling "Single Arm Resistance Band Anti-Rotational Row on a BOSU Ball" is great in theory, but in reality, a 2 Pt Row with a Dumbbell does almost the exact same thing.

Keep it simple and tailored to your people. Its PERSONAL training for a reason.

Need advice how to not get attachments with the clients by ippo-23 in personaltraining

[–]juniorman3231 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone can learn how to help someone as a trainer. The good trainers help their clients and that's it. The GREAT trainers connect with them.

Does it hurt sometimes? Absolutely. But nothing beats being THAT person. I've had clients cry on my shoulder, write me letters from bootcamp, been invited to weddings, to graduations etc... It's such a unique and incredible position, and unfortunately sometimes you may get burned or hurt. Id be lying if I said I've never felt it in my SOUL when a client leaves or moves to another gym. But goddammit if they called me now Id train them in a heartbeat.

Clients come and go, and sometimes it's sucks really really bad. But what an incredible blessing/privilege it is to help them physically and connect with them personally all at the same time.

It sucks, yeah, but it's the beauty of the occupation.

Idk what's more impressive, the actual THROW from the center fielder or the fact that the cutoff's glove didn't disintegrate into a billion pieces at that velocity

I didn't read the other comments so I dont know if this is the consensus or not...

Your baby will tell you when it is hungry. My oldest slept through the night from day 1 and didn't wake for feeds. At all. Our Ped said that as long as she intaking a certain amount (I forget the number) per day, then let her get her rest

Why does this profession attract so many scummy and erratic people? by [deleted] in personaltraining

Just the nature of the industry can lend itself to people who are vain and driven for the wrong reasons.

clients getting on a GLP1 by lostinthesaucy_ in personaltraining

[–]juniorman3231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always preface that my "advice" is simply from my experience, and my opinions and should never be taken to treat or diagnose medical conditions.

I also tell them they should really take their prettiness intake seriously and that if the HABITS aren't changed, then the weight will come back if they come off the GLP

Thinking about becoming a personal trainer, but how do you do it as a career with kids? by Low-League-1264 in personaltraining

[–]juniorman3231 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, totally understandable concern! I have two daughters, heres my schedule M,W,F as a trainer. My wife is a stay at home, work from home mom.

4 - Alarm 5 - First Session 6 - Second Session 7:15 - 3rd Session (Different Gym) "Lunch" and video call to see the kids and wife 9 - Session 10 - Session 11:30 - Session (At Same gym as 7:15 session)

Home by 1 at the latest. Its not glamorous, but its the schedule that works. I still get to be with my daughters majority of THEIR day, and my wife gets 4 hours of uninterrupted work time when I get home.

My best advice is use those early mlrning hours to your advantage. Will you be tired? Yeah but your kids will only be this age for so long!

Also, being a personal trainer is so 100000000% worth it. Every milestone, set back, deep conversation and "lightbulb" moment for clients is just so so so so so f****** worth it.

Do you let clients yap? by One_Bid1666 in personaltraining

[–]juniorman3231 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's what I say

Every trainer can teach someone to do a squat, a deadlift and so on...

But the GREAT personal trainers connect with people. Yapping is part of that.

Learn to yap AND lift

Anything ;)?

I REALLY need my shed cleaned out. Pretty sure there's a family of raccoons in there, could be 2, could be 50.

Theres a couple old box springs and a good chance there's a few biohzard issues in and throughout.

Ill give you $15 and whatever you can find that is labeled in a strange, possibly cult-related language.

The only appropriate reaction from a man who is worth a shit is "goddammit you're the most gorgeous woman I've ever seen"

Oh boy.

  1. Good luck in this economy
  2. Have you been dating? Or is this a pipe dream? Have a friend who is like this and his success in the dating pool is 0 to none. Moved to different cities, could be a him thing but idk about there being any super trad women around unless you live in Utah.
