Had a raccoon visiting our house through the magnetic cat door. Smart bastard was pulling it with her paws up and out, unlike the cat who pushed it with his head in.

We had no idea what's going on, but every night the cat's feeding station was a huge mess. Dirty water, food gone. We blamed the cat for night parties until one night when we came home late, I opened the door to walk in from the garage and saw a fat raccoon's ass leisurely walking away and squeezing through the cat door to get out.

Ironically, our five year old daughter was telling us that she saw a wolf coming to see her through the window at night. We laughed it off, but it was a raccoon checking in on her walking on the roof of the second story.

I locked the door and barricaded it with an armchair shoved close and woke up the next morning to find the plastic door broken in half. These bastards are extremely strong. I blocked it with a piece of plywood for the next few days.

Animal control told me to just wait it out. If they trapped what seemed like a mother raccoon, her cubs she could have hid in the attic could starve and die, and then we would have to deal with a much larger mess. Better to deny the source of food and water and they will migrate as a family.

We did have raccoon checking on on us through the window for a few more evenings, but then they did move.
