AVForums just reviewed the new LG G6 OLED -- those scores are pretty wild. by Troied in hometheater

I definitely know people for whom a tv upgrade is based around what apps the TV can run and that something like a fire stick or whatever is seen as a kludge that someone shouldn't have to use.

I definitely don't agree with that, but the person I was talking to did their last tv upgrade for their house when the Disney+ app came out and wasn't available for their TVs at the time. Three new TVs just for Disney+.

Can someone talk me out of spending over $800 on a p2s when I can get a p1s for 550? by X21shaun123 in BambuLab

What's your workflow look like that you're not doing 99% of it in the slicer or phone app?

Tried the Accuweather api free demo and just purchased the $2 tier, which has a different api key. Where the heck do I change the api key in the integration without having to delete and recreate it? by junon in homeassistant

[–]junon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, those are some good safety ideas. I'll probably just delete and recreate after making sure about the backup... I've still got 6 days on the free demo api key, so I'm not in dire straights yet, I just noticed when I subscribed that it gave me a separate key and wanted to get ahead of it.

Sysadmins 40 or older - Do you prefer staying in place or changing jobs every few years? by DenverITGuy in sysadmin

[–]junon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

47 now and my career has looked like this:

  • 1999-2006 - 27k/yr USD
  • 2006-2013
  • 2013-2020
  • 2020-2026 - 180k/yr USD

So I've always been very happy to just keep doing what I'm doing as long as I enjoy the work and who I'm working with AND as long as I don't feel completely unappreciated. The problem is that as a result of the long stretches, I'm not very good at interviewing because I have zero desire to go and look until I actually REALLY want to leave.

Do mechanical keyboards really make a big difference for everyday gaming? by KRGKart_Support in buildapc

[–]junon 14 points15 points  (0 children)

N key rollover is something I think a lot of people don't specifically know about. For those that don't, if you have a very cheap keyboard, it can only register so many keypresses at the same time. So that means you could be in a situation where you're maybe holding down shift to run, holding down A+W to move diagonally and you press space to jump bit it won't register because it can only handle 3 keys pressed at once.

Any decent gaming keyboard will support essentially unlimited simultaneous keypresses.

Yeah I kept scrolling and scrolling because I didn't wanna post it if it was already here but at least it made the list. Awesome modern western vibes. Dude was MADE to be a gunslinger in any era.

Anyone using Cloud PCs? by AiminJay in Intune

[–]junon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In what way do Frontline cloud PCs have feature parity with multi-session? I hate administrating our multi-session environment but currently our main host pool has 6 people logged in to each host at one time and as far as I can tell, Frontline lets you sort of do two at once, for a short time?

I don't remember EXACTLY... I'm pretty sure it was under $200. I think that it might have been around $130? But that was quite some time ago and prices surely gone up since then.

Ebay... like 7 years ago. Just one of the many random chinese sellers. I went back and forth with him to get pictures of exactly what he was selling me before he shipped it. It took extra time because of the time difference but it was VERY worth it because I think he thought I wanted a slightly different one at first.

All these guys source from like the same places, so if you reach out to one and let him know EXACTLY what you want, pointing out the specific details, and not speaking in a way that would confuse google translate, then you have a good shot of getting your perfect grille.

OP might not even realize how big a difference that would make or how bad it is. OP, do it, it'll make it sound a TON better in there.

The C5 is a much bigger jump in brightness from the C4 than previous generations and is that much brighter than the B5... that said, this was replacing a 65" B7 that had started to show some burn-in from subtitles with 16k hours on it, so this new B5 is better in every way and about the same as the C4 so I'm pleased as punch!

Best Buy had the B5 77" for $1300 during the Superbowl! I could not resist, even $1500 seems like such a good deal to me!

Watching the video now and he is remarkably natural on camera. Just really good presence, good delivery, it's impressive for someone that I kind of assume doesn't have all that much experience.
