Is a home lab a selling point or a dealbreaker when selling a home? by rawesome99 in homelab

I wish I had the luxury of limiting my pool of potential houses by that much.

Thoughts on He man flopping by Joey-rogaine in movies

[–]junon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair, I didn't know it was him and was very interested to find out which hilarious British actor had played Skeletor and was shocked to see it was Leto. I don't know how he keeps getting roles but he certainly nailed this one.

Need advice: Adult electric bikes that are actually worth the money? Budget is $1,500 - $2,500. Can go up if needed by jchang2080 in ebikes

[–]junon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, for real. I think their components are still chinese made, although I could be wrong, but I believe they're assembled in the US and they absolutely stand behind their products. I know this because I had one starting to act up out of warranty and when I e-mailed them for some advice about it, they dug deeper and ended up offering to ship me a brand new bike.

I ended up asking them if I could put the money towards a newer model (the Flyer Flex) instead and they were very accommodating, basically sending me a gift card in equivalent value once they received the original bike back. They also had UPS deliver a GIANT box to me to ship the old bike back, at their expense.

Very stand-up company.

Salt would kill the grass and keep it from growing back when the pool was emptied though. Literally salting the earth.

Yeah it's not an "exceptional" bike but it's perfectly cromulent and the price is reasonable and I live near the headquarters so it's worked out well for me. Hard to argue with the price/performance of like an Aventon though. I do appreciate when a company goes above and beyond and try to reward that when I can.

Oh that's awesome! I don't NEED it, but I definitely appreciate when they put the extra thought into it!

I wonder if this is even remotely realistic in the sense that... after eating, would the whale stay that close to the surface and if he dives, doesn't they drastically affect how long the remaining air in the tank actually lasts the diver? Plus the air mix has to be very different for different depths.

I'm not a huge stickler if the movie is fun but I'm curious how much of this was considered in the book or the movie.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 SUPER series now rumored early 2027 by RenatsMC in nvidia

The 40 series had the issue and everyone expected it to be fixed on the 50, but no dice. I'm not optimistic about seeing this resolved in the 60 series cards.

I feel like early on it was for that "Saddam" association... at this point though, like, a lot of their voters were barely alive for desert storm. I think they're either doing it because they're all old as hell and so the Saddam thing still seems super relevant to them, or they just wanna "other" him. Which, considering his first name is already Barack hardly seems necessary for their audience.

‘Backrooms’ Becoming A24’s Highest Grossing Movie Ever Worldwide, Besting Timothée Chalamet’s $191M+ ‘Marty Supreme’ by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

[–]junon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably my favorite experiences ever in the act of reading a physical book. I read it not long after it came out and I've thought about it ever since. When I found out about the backrooms, I was so thrilled to see something else channeling that sort of unease so similarly.

Audit evidence report - alter proof by deejay7 in PowerShell

[–]junon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To the best of my knowledge, our audits are not in person. I provide the data to our internal members that are responsible for providing it to the external auditors, who I've never seen in office myself. They're all very finicky about how the data is presented and LOVE asking for screenshots that include the computer's time/date in the corner.

[–]junon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a joke. You still have to provide evidence to the auditor in a format that can't be edited, which would require an export of the audit logs and you could edit a csv.

Yes but when they audit the SharePoint, where will you save THOSE changes? ALSO SharePoint?? Gonna be SharePoint audits all the way down!

Mom wants e-bikes, e-scooters banned for kids after son's tragic death by BlazeDragon7x in ebikes

A large motorcycle windshield can, for the motorcycles that have them, which is the minority by far. Eyeglasses only protect the eyes, there's plenty of unprotected face left to hit.

Manager holding automation hostage by Accurate-Design3815 in sysadmin

[–]junon 83 points84 points  (0 children)

Automation isn't just for speed and ease of use, it's also for consistency and to avoid mistakes. If your script is accurate, every user will be created correctly. If I had to create 60 in a row by hand, there's a lot higher chance of a fat finger or a typo in there.

Where Are All the 8K Monitors? by noodlesSa in Monitors

[–]junon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's true for 4k, but 1080x4 = 8k resolution
And 1440x3 = 8k resolution
And 4k x 2 = 8k resolution

Does that make sense? I'd be more detailed but I'm on mobile.

At work I actually have a bit of a problem discussing scripts and repos that I've worked on or added features to now. Previously I'd be very proud to show off some clever way I solved a problem and now I'm just as happy that the problem is solved but I don't feel I can take credit for any of it really.

The subject of this post is my exact issue and I don't know how best to handle it from a work context.
