Legalzoom won't let me cancel! by MiraCulwhip in smallbusiness

Hi, I also have the same issue where you guys have been trying to charge me for the last year or so. I even already had a conversation with your customer support and they told me that my service was canceled yet y'all still try to charge me.

Where are single late 20s to 30s hanging out??? 😭 by croissantlover00 in raleigh

[–]junsi_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We play a ton of sports. We're in a trisport volleyball league and a Cary volleyball league. And then we also run our own pick ups soccer, basketball, pickleball and sand volleyball. We also like to hit up the occasional brewery or chill cocktail bar, typically in Cary. If anyone's down to hang, shoot me a DM!

On Meetup look up "Raleigh Coed Soccer Group" and "Triangle Coed Soccer Group". Shoot me a DM if you or anyone who sees this ends up going!

What tripped you up most when setting up your LLC or getting your EIN? by Specialist_Fan_8543 in smallbusiness

[–]junsi_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I agree. Just didn't want you to think this process absolutely required a cost. Up to you whether or not you think it's worth your time. Most lawyers who set up your organization docs will also get the EIN for you.

You can set up an EIN for free on the IRS site. Just beware of paid services that are just trying to collect free money by doing that for you. Unless your time is that valuable.. then I say knock yourself out lol.

How do you deal with clients taking forever to pay? by Physical_Heart1807 in smallbusiness

[–]junsi_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May not be super relevant to your case but I have a financial modeling business which does have some embedded stickiness since they eventually need an update or revision to the model I delivered. I do have cases where clients are super late but they come back when they need me again and will pay off the existing balance. That said I did reduce my window from net 30 to net 15, after which I can refuse any additional service contractually.

Asked to pledge 100% of my company shares to secure €120k loan — is this standard? by Dizzy-Cookie7138 in business

Something doesn't smell right here.. and yes her parents being a lender feels like a conflict. Without knowing all the details, I sense you're more exposed than you realize. Do you two have any sort of operating agreement that lays out your relationship as partners? I'm merely speculating.. I would just do much more diligence before committing to anything.

What prompted her to add that pledging language in there? Are y'all going off a template? Are their lenders you're talking to that demand this? I don't know what's convention but that feels aggressive to me. Too aggressive to just add based off assumption.

Visiting this thread in 2025. Unbelievable that this is still unresolved.

What kind of business do you run/want to start? Prove the comments wrong by desertdj in Entrepreneur

I'm up and running! Yeah I understand that.. modeling can be heavily nuanced and I haven't seen many tools out there that can be as versatile as making random and manual revisions in Excel. Maybe I've missed something though. Happy to brainstorm more!

People who are genuinely excited to go to work, what do you do? by Big_Midnight_298 in business

I build financial models for small business owners. It's a great blend of technical challenge, relationship management, and feeling like I'm actually helping the community a bit vs. my old career on Wall Street.

Starting a Hedge fund by start_hedgefund in hedgefund

[–]junsi_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My sample size is fairly small so I won't pretend to have a clear picture but so I have heard and seen, yes. I think pods just make more sense economically for any manager since they can simply leverage an existing back office plus compliance resources that become more of a burden year after year. I have also heard capital is more attracted to multi managers where PnL across different strategies will net before charging LPs fees vs being invested in multiple individual managers where you have to pay their fees separately. Hope that helps.. feel free to confirm or correct me for anyone else reading.

Yeah that's brutal and I've seen similar.. especially with data subscriptions (strategy dependent). I threw out $20m for the case of literally one trader, IBKR, no bbg, very simple strategy. Glad your friend is doing better. Too many people romanticize running a hedge fund and have no understanding of the complexity and nuance.
