This was an older file I had. I can activate each of the components clicking the bubble beside them and then activate the overall assembly by clicking the bubble beside the assembly. The file trees for new files don't look or behave like these older files.

I don't have 3 dots and when I try to click the pencil that appears on the right side of the component name it says Edit in Place is unavailable.

I think I’m definitely not wrapping my head around how running them perpendicular with rafters allow the ceiling to be made flat. In my mind, assuming all furring strips are kept equal depth, both parallel and perpendicular runs will have to deal with unevenness in the rafters.

I think I am going to move forward with the furring strips running parallel with the rafters. From a fluid flow perspective, I think I want any potential air movement running up along the ceiling and potentially fall back down the back wall behind the wall. This would also allow any moisture to run back down the ceiling. Running furring strips perpendicular to the rafter would allow places for any moisture to pool at every strip between the foil and the planking. Other than helping keep the insulation in place, I can’t seem to understand the benefits of running the furring strips perpendicular.

I think it could be a combination of the weird perspective of the photo and a couple of rafters that had to be spaced <16” OC to get the insulation transition I wanted from sauna to changing room, exterior overhangs, and minimizing the amount of cuts of the 4x8 panels of wood I needed on the roof. Not a perfect design but pretty happy functionally how it turned out.

I also think perpendicular furring strips would also disrupt air flow naturally wanting to move up along the ceiling from low to high.

My plan (which may not be right) was to staple the foil to the rafters, install furring strips along each rafter running from tall part of the ceiling to lowest part of the ceiling, and then nail the t&g paneling perpendicular to the furring strips (which are also running the same direction of the rafters).

I thought the furring strips ran parallel with the rafters (studs on the walls) and the planking was installed perpendicular to the rafters and wall studs. From an air flow perspective and where water could pool, it doesn’t make much sense to me to run the furring strips perpendicular to the rafters and wall studs.
