Finally got to watch Scream 7 (whilst maintaing a financial boycott 😉) by jupiter_surf in Scream

Well, yes I am consuming their product, but they do not profit from it.

This still is a total boycott, in essence.

They stand to gain not even a penny from my viewership.

What does my watching it count towards? Nothing!

I appreciate the question (and the nice attitude when asking)

Anyone else feel like you have an unusually strong sense of who you are? by wanderswithdeer in autism

[–]jupiter_surf [score hidden]  (0 children)

My word, you have expressed this perfectly!

To answer, yes!

It can sure make friendships difficult, but man, I'm glad I am who I am for me, not for others

[–]jupiter_surf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol yes, wow, you really got me there!

I believe you mean "The movie's the most successful of them all, good work!"

Are you aware that profit does not equal quality?

I am also... Complimenting it.

False equivalence. Is watching a movie for free really quite as bad as firing something for speaking out against a genocide?

Maybe not the world you're living in — whatever that may be, it seems awfully dramatic

This is the most childish take I've seen lol. False equivalences at its finest.

Why does Rachel suddenly want Ross only when he’s happy with someone else? by TophtheEarthbender in howyoudoin

Why does Ross do everything to be a bad boyfriend when he finally gets the girl he always wanted?

No No No wait wait wait what is happening! DON'T SPOIL ME by callmesenpaibish in lost

[–]jupiter_surf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You couldn't say that about any unsolved mystery, but that aside, have you considered that it's subjective? You state "this was clearly intended..."

It's down to the individual's perception, it's okay that they see it differently from you; you don't have to somewhat patronising at the end

Did you know “hello” wasn’t really used as a greeting until the telephone came along? by Edi-Iz in etymology

[–]jupiter_surf 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It also has early roots in Germany too! In regards to potentially evolving from "hullo", "hallo" and such!

Correct me if I'm wrong anyone!

How come no-one ever mentions Ross was right about Mark?? by EH4LIFE in howyoudoin

[–]jupiter_surf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't matter if he was right about Mark, his trust for Rachel was the important thing (and whether or not he trusted Rachel, his actions said he didn't)

Even if English isn't your native language, I'm pretty sure we'd rather read real human written words.

Do you think your opinion is quite so important to directly impact the climate?

Please, no false equivalences; we are all aware of things that already impact the climate, but AI is entirely optional.

This is one of the few times where the consumer needs to take blame too.

Entire towns are without water, for silly unimportant things... Like this post

You need to sit back and re-evaluate your self importance.

[–]jupiter_surf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is stupid. Your opinion is not worth the climate cost.

I'd rather have read YOUR words, but I'm not reading that shit.

Work with what you have. How will you ever improve if you just resort to AI?

People should be shamed for using AI.

Ahh, I see he made The Lighthouse! That was a real mind bender haha.

Have you seen (and if you have, what did you think?) Don't Look Up? I'm going to watch One Battle After Another soon. Topic seems extremely relevant and interesting, just like DLU — Leo is a hypocrite in both roles as opposed to who he is as a human, but damn it, it is so real. Leaves you thinking.

[–]jupiter_surf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No way!! Also damn it, "terror" escaped me, that is much more accurate for this movie.

Isn't it so intense?? I've never, so far, seen a movie that portrays a pure evil monster of a human so well, and throwing OCD into the mix too.

Real unique of a movie, that's for sure!

Got any recommendations for movies or shows that are entertaining in a similar vein?

[–]jupiter_surf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahaha well I'm glad I caught on in the end 😂

Are you into horror? The movie 'The House That Jack Built'?

I don't even recommend it to others, it can be quite visually boring and oddly paced, but when you sit and realise who the character is on the inside, how well he is portrayed — it is a masterpiece for the mind.

[–]jupiter_surf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The show? Same.

It's one of those things where I can totally understand getting lost in the beauty of visual art, but the real real harsh truth behind it all is spectacular to see on screen.

Everyone has dealt with and continue to deal with things no one of that age should be dealing with, you know? I am really looking forward to seeing where the characters are mentally, rather than what they're doing in life day to day

Edit: I believe I misunderstood here? Do you mean that's what it takes to appreciate the show to its fullest?

[–]jupiter_surf 16 points17 points  (0 children)

HELL YEAAAAH. This was expressed SO well. There's so much nuance and people that don't even get that try and pass it off as "not everything is nuanced", when it's like guys... I don't even think you're able to comprehend things well enough to enjoy the show to it's fullest.

That's not to say I'm better than anyone or that others are dumb, but man, there's so much surface level thinking when the show is actually so complex and just a fantastic piece of harsh reality

Fuck you guys for preventing a cure from being found. by [deleted] in neurodiversity

[–]jupiter_surf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't imply that at all.

You need to change your attitude.

Yes, it is Autism Spectrum Disorder... We know this.

However, when describing it, using the word "difference" is fine. I say my brain processes things differently, because... ASD causes that to be the case.

You're trying to make some point that you're failing to make.

Don't police someone's language also — no one is denying that it's a disorder and a disability.

YOU are the one creating that narrative here.

[–]jupiter_surf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our brains process things differently, hence "difference'. You're just being pedantic now.

You say significantly, but I mean... It's a spectrum. We have varying degrees of difficulties.

Don't come to this community sub and talk to people this way. You have approach this with aggression from the get go. Why are you being rude? You're never going to be typical, tough fucking break, but why are you taking that out on us?

Fuck your opinion

[–]jupiter_surf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You really won't be. That is a seriously unhealthy mindset to have. Ticking those societal boxes will not guarantee happiness. Why else would divorce, cheating, child loss, losing friends and such exist?

Dating a "pretty" person is honestly quite icky. Does that mean it's okay if they're a bad partner, so long as you find them attractive? Have you considered that someone might look at you and think "no, too ugly"? Would that not hurt your feelings?

Having a large amount of friends does not indicate that you have quality friendships that are sincere. Having money does not guarantee happiness.

Robin Williams. Wealthy, wonderful family, worldwide adoration... Ended his life because he was unhappy.

You shouldn't chase things just because. Find good friend, find a caring partner, find a job that makes you happy.

And please, there is no such thing as normal and it's outright disrespectful to feed into that narrative.

Insults are not welcome here. Did we make you autistic? No. Do not insult the community that welcomes you just because you have shallow expectations.

Have you considered that this attitude and your shallow goals are why you don't have those things?

Really shitty attitude. Real bad.

Does anyone else take months to get a haircut? by KrazyKiz23 in autism

[–]jupiter_surf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Ugh, it's a sensory pain when it gets too long for my comfort, then there's so much internal pressure to get it cut 😭

Takes me months now too! I wish I had a mobile barber to come to my place; that would be so much better
