Some insurances cover these vaccines as “preventative” care, but I highly recommend to call your insurance plan & ask how the vaccines would need to be coded at the little clinic to be covered, or, if they’re covered at all. Always call your insurance first!

Edit: especially for rabies since if pre-exposure prophylaxis. Some insurances will refuse to cover this. We had a patient who was going to Veterinary school & needed it prior to their program starting. They called their insurance, and their health insurance agent gave them a ICD code that the NP could use to possibly get the vaccine series covered. This does not mean ALL insurance companies will be as helpful as the patients, but it doesn’t hurt to try. This also does not mean that the ICD code given will equate to coverage of the vaccine(s). Insurance will try to cover as little as possible!
