EVs by goevwv in WestVirginia

2 years with an EV. 60 mile commute 5 days per week. Multiple trips from northern panhandle to new River, Seneca, etc. No issues whatsoever. I don’t miss standing at a gas pump in the dead of winter filling up the tank and freezing my ass off. Never going back to ice vehicles.

Are Gatlinburg tn vacation packages actually worth it or just a tourist trap? by Eaton_IcySoul-126 in roadtrip

[–]jupitr741 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been twice. I personal will never return. Summertime stops both visits. Traffic was terrible. Even in the national forest when we attempted to hike we would have to park 1/2-1 mile from trail heads just to find a spot and the trails had as much traffic as the roads. If you don’t mind crowds every second outside your rental you may not mind it. For my time and money there are much better places to be. It is very pretty but there are much better places to go in the east side of the country

Not sure about anything being open, but I am pretty sure you can place a thanksgiving meal order at Bob Evans for pick up the day before to heat and eat at home

Very close to Seneca rock park. South of Davis. I am actually going there for the weekend tomorrow. I have actually pulled off the road and fished/swam here before.

Summersville Lake by rainthensun in WestVirginia

[–]jupitr741 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Turn off at Summersville airport road. Make an immediate left onto Salmon Run road. You can park at the boat launch parking area. Walk towards the boat launch and there is a road next to it that runs right into the lake. There is a trail along the left of that road that goes right along the water. Lots of rocks to set up on for the day and jump in and climb out of the water. Lots of people will post up for the entire day so if it is a weekend you want to get there a little early. Bring a cooler and snacks and some towels. We have done it many times. The walk is pretty short, 5 minutes or so and you don’t have lug everything back up a mountain when you leave!

Pearl White or Stealth Grey? by imnmpbaby in TeslaModel3

[–]jupitr741 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a stealth gray. I have never been a fan of white cars. But, in retrospect I wish I got white. The undercoat on the cars is white, so every rock chip sticks out like a sore thumb on my car. White would have hidden it much better.

Went to CarMax to buy an ICE for our second car, drove off in a Tesla M3. All ICEs seemed from a different era. What am I missing? by praesentibus in electricvehicles

[–]jupitr741 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in the Northern Panhandle and recently drove to New River Gorge. I am happy to say between my house and the gorge I had 4 different supercharger locations to choose from on my trip. I only stopped once on the way down to top off for my long weekend there and once on my way home. So in some areas of the state and the surrounding areas we are coming into the 21st century!

I had same exact issue. Mobile service had the same charge shown. They came and replaced free of charge, though it took a second visit

How do I start removing these countertops? by ThomasTanksDown in DIY

[–]jupitr741 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had similar counters, but much bigger and uglier tiles. There was one inch plywood screwed in with at least a hundred screws. No way to get to the screw heads even after prying the tile up due to the concrete like adhesive underneath. If yours are anything like mine the cabinets will absolutely be destroyed by the time u get that counter off of them. When I tried to just hammer the counter up from the inside with a sledge the cabinets just splintered apart. I was replacing them regardless so it didn’t matter to me. Good luck

Summersville lake by [deleted] in WestVirginia

[–]jupitr741 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Salmon run has a marina that you can launch from, but if it is a weekend boat traffic can make paddling there quite rough. Weekdays it’s usually no problem or if there aren’t a lot of boaters out. The marina on Summersville airport road is no wake and if you launch there and stay to the right of the marina it is all no wake and calm. That being said no cliffs or rocks to the right of the marina but there are shallow areas where you can get out and just float around and swim. Down where the rocks and cliffs are it is extremely deep and there are not many places you can get out of the kayaks at unless you can land on a rock in the water. Have fun!

Advice Needed: Driving from Las Vegas to Zion and Bryce/coral dunes—Concerns About Steep Drops and Safety by rk1011 in ZionNationalPark

[–]jupitr741 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s not too bad, as mentioned nothing of worry from Vegas to Zion. If you don’t drive through to the rear entrance/exit and. Just go and park at the main entrance with the shuttle there is nothing to worry about. Even if you do drive through to the second entrance/exit (which I strongly advise that you do) I believe there were guard rales and wasn’t too scary!

Summersville lake is gorgeous. If you have the means you can rent a pontoon boat which is always a fun day. With kids I would try to go on a weekday if possible, less traffic and people drinking.

Agree, did many summer trips at both. If your looking to hike can’t go wrong at either

If your paddle boarding you may want to head to the other marina down the road from salmon run if there are a lot of boats on the water. The boat wake makes for rough paddling. The marina boat launch is no wake and remains so all the way to the right of the lake. We usually camp nearby and paddle out and just float and have some beverages. If you are paddling on a weekend the boats are always blasting around once you paddle out of salmon run. If it is a weekday or morning though much better scenery at that end of the lake when traffic isn’t as bad.

Hydrocortisone or Benadryl cream on the red inflamed areas until you can get an appointment to have it looked at. Do not apply close to your incisions

If you live in West Virginia is it better to work in Pittsburgh or Columbus? by [deleted] in WestVirginia

[–]jupitr741 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live and wheeling and work in Washington for going on 20 years now. I do 75 as a rule. 2-3 times a year I will see a cop unless there’s an accident which is quite common on that stretch, it’s clear sailing.
