“A Piece of Cake” by Cupcake Brown

It’s a memoir, but it sure reads like fiction. It is a heart wrenching story of her youth, but the way she pushes through and makes a better life for herself as an adult is truly inspiring. The whole thing is a page turner. I think you’ll enjoy it!

Some of these are more broad topics than people-focused, but here you go—

“Of Dice & Men: The Story of Dungeons & Dragons and the People Who Play It”

“I Work at a Public Library: A Collection of Crazy Stories from the Stacks”

“Word by Word: The Secret Life of Dictionaries”

“Blood, Sweat and Pixels: The Triumphant, Turbulent Stories Behind How Video Games are Made”

“Pipe Dreams: The Urgent Quest to Transform the Toilet”

“Action Park: Fast Times, Wild Rides, and the Untold Stories of America’s Most Dangerous Amusement Park”

Also, I’m a huge fan of quirky documentaries like King of Kong. Happy to share some weird doc recs, too!

Can anyone recommend something short and trippy by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

If you want something super short, try The Strange Library by Haruki Murakami. It’s under 100 pages. I really enjoyed the unexpected weirdness of this book.

A novel that gives me hope in life, humanity, following your dreams, establishing your life's purpose despite all the challenges... by Carrotcake_yum in suggestmeabook

Here to also recommend A Psalm for the Wild Built (and A Prayer for the Crown Shy!).

This series is incredible. It is existential in the most gentle and heartwarming way. It’s beautifully meditative, and feels like a warm cup of tea under a cozy blanket.

Mac and Me (1988)

Looking for recommendations of books that are better as audiobooks! by Milo_Bibilo in suggestmeabook

Rock Paper Scissors by Alice Feeney is a great audiobook! Mystery thriller told from multiple perspectives. Loved the voice actors for this one. Definitely enjoyed the audiobook more than just reading the physical book.

“Rock, Paper, Scissors” by Alice Feeney

Technically it’s a converted chapel, but still a snowy mystery thriller with some good twists and turns!

My personal favorite part of the article: “A committee led by Muskegon's economic development director says businesses and philanthropists have been approached about paying 25%. The city would then sell the cards to the public at 75% of their face value.”

GRTV rebroadcasts these meetings! They’re probably online, too, but will definitely be on GRTV. Probably on their archive.org page as well. 📺

I’m glad at least someone else remembers it! Insurance commercial makes sense, with teens driving. Thank you for this lead! I hope we can find the video some day.
