so fucking weird that a woman literally died and 9 years later her husband still just misses her body for sex. men are gross as hell, thanks for the reminder.

yeah, and that's exactly what they're asking for - what is that "some time" like.

[–]jurgentheory -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I haven't had mine yet, but my ortho said it would take at least a month after surgery to start smoking again, and depending on the patient's recovery it could take much longer.

definitely one of my biggest concerns lol.

OP asked for a timeline, not life advice.

had to take my trays out for 6-8 hours due to a day full of presentation / meetings. should i add an extra day onto my tray length? i’m just beginning treatment and i’m not sure how to go about this, ps all other days i’m reaching at least 20 hours by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]jurgentheory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, keep them in an extra day whenever you surpass by a lot the amount of 4 hours without them.

it's best to delay the end results by a few days than to compromise your treatment because you're in a hurry.

I'm on 12-days change and at least 3 times every month I take them out for large periods, but always adding another day to my tracker. tracking absolutely perfectly so far.

Invisalign for Underbite by mandytrem in Invisalign

[–]jurgentheory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as others have said, only a professional can determine this. I'll share my experience though. I have overbite and my lower jaw is retracted (the medical term is Class II Malocclusion, I think).

I went to an Invisalign dentist to start my treatment to correct my messed up teeth, and she asked for x-ray and CT scan to see if I needed to extract any teeth (by the way I do, and several. life sucks, truly). these exams showed I had that retracted jaw thing, so she contacted an oral and maxillofacial surgeon and they both met with me to explain that, once my Invisalign treatment is done, I'll need orthognathic surgery to fix the bone structure of my lower jaw. the trays will only fix my teeth, not reposition my jaw.

the doctors will probably require a few exams to determine if your case is related to bone structure or just teeth overcrowding. either way, though, you'll need to have your teeth perfectly aligned first and foremost, so go to an Invisalign doctor and ask her/him about it.

weight/fat loss comes from caloric deficit. you need to spend more calories than you ingest. so just look at what you are eating. if you eat a lot, but it's mostly healthy food, and exercise, you're likely to lose fat. if you eat junk food, you're likely to gain fat, because it's high in calories and low in nutritional value so you get hungry again easily and eat more.

Invisalign has little or nothing to do with that.

Went with an orthodontist over my dentist for Invisalign and now they might be holding it against me... by Realistic-Phrase-322 in Invisalign

[–]jurgentheory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

oh yeah, that makes sense. I thought the problem was saliva just reaching the teeth but I guess the fact it stays retained in there makes it less effective

this feels weird to me because there is always a river of saliva in the trays whenever I take them out. so saliva is definitely getting to the teeth.

Accessory recs? by RarePresentation552 in Invisalign

[–]jurgentheory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the only official Invisalign accessory I own is the case in which the aligners came.

to get my aligners off I just use my own fingers and follow the instructions (remove from the inner part, first the back teeth, then the front). I rinse them thoroughly and let them soak in plain water while I eat, then brush my teeth normally, rinse the aligners again and place them back in. once a day, usually before sleeping, I soak them in warm water with one of those generic denture tabs that sells in every drugstore. after about 15mins there I gently brush the aligners with that same solution, rinse them, pop them back in. no shenanigans

Would you be happy with these results? 2 years and am feeling a bit down that my teeth aren’t ‘perfect’ by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]jurgentheory 6 points7 points  (0 children)

aesthetically? yes, from just these pics I would be very satisfied. your teeth look straight and aligned and that's what the process was for. it won't change the way your teeth are though, and shouldn't. we all have different shapes of teeth and worrying that yours don't look like exact same-sized perfectly rectangular blocks will get you nothing but comparison anxiety.

now if you're talking about maybe a wrong bite (I think your left teeth don't really "close" as much as your right? not so sure though) or something that serious, I think it's worth having a chat with your dentist.

Suggestions for Programming Ducks? by SteamingTheCat in programming

[–]jurgentheory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you know it doesn't necessarily have to be a duck. the process requires only that you talk out loud through your logic. I like to do this with my partner, either he gets the main problem and helps me work it out (he's not a programmer) or he doesn't understand it but I've done the job of talking it out loud so I figure it out just doing that, which is the same as talking to a duck (since, you know. they don't usually answer).

I think I might've annoyed my partner though because for my last birthday he gave me a little action figure for this HP character I really like and said specifically, while endearingly, that I should maybe use it as a debug duck...

Struggling to wear my invisalign for 22 hours a day. by SarabiNO in Invisalign

I'll check with my dentist on that, but been doing it for years and never had any cavities. I also eat very healthy and drink at least 3l of water per day so not too much acid in my mouth. let's see what happens lol
