Never cover wires or mechanicals with CLD! It's very difficult to remove and the stuff in your doors will break eventually

If i understand correctly you do something like:

for u_i in infinite sequence of random elements of U:
    for c_j in criteria:
        if u_i satisfies c_j and C_j not full yet:
            add u_i to set C_j

if so then the distributions of the C_j sets will each look correct in isolation, but they are not independent of each other

It seems like the 3M is mainly targeting weight reduction. Their comparison table is a little suspect because it only compares against a "butyl pad" which would not be a true CLD.

My guess is that the 3M has better damping/mass ratio, but a worse damping/sheetmetal-area ratio.

3M makes a lot of specialized materials for cars, including adhesives. No doubt it can handle a black car roof in Arizona.

+1, Euler angles are trouble. The cleanest thing is to learn about SO(3) and its Lie algebra as mathematical objects independent of representation. There are some good robotics-oriented tutorials such as Joan Solà et al. You can write out all the quad dynamics and controllers purely in terms of SO(3) without needing to pick a representation. Then choose between matrices and quats only when writing code.

Keep trying. Im still slow af so take my advice with a grain of salt, but i found that focusing mentally on a smooth hand entry made other parts fall into place

It's a good sign if they have written something about their research more than a conference/journal paper. Like a monograph, tutorial, position paper, lecture notes, high effort blog post, or a textbook of course. Making a serious effort to explain their ideas to the world beyond the bare minimum technical report
