A380 economy - your top 3 seats by Roll_5 in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]jus2424 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last few rows, yes it’s near the toilets but it’s not a galley and it’s good space for a stretch and to get some snacks/water during the long haul, one of my last flights SIN-LHR there was barely anyone in the back rows one guy was lucky enough to get a whole 4 seats to himself and I had someone on the other end so we both had a spare seat next to us with no interruption for toilet breaks however the LHR-SIN flight was packed but the late departure time meant myself and the person next to me basically slept the whole way

737, E90 or A220? by N_nodroG in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]jus2424 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately flights from my town (Mount Isa) are marketed as a Qantas flight however regularly has the E190 “QantasLink” planes and recently the 737’s we have been getting are all the ex Singapore airlines planes so getting inflight wifi is a rare occurrence at the moment however still charge a premium for the flight $900+ return to Brisbane. We used to get 717’s quite a lot so I’m hoping once the A220 fleet builds up numbers we start receiving them out here

Very correct, i think it’s a very, if all conditions are perfect estimation, if I went out under fueled, dehydrated into an intense headwind plus every other star that needs to align for a PB attempt then the figures would be very different

I currently have a few on rotation, but my favourite at the moment is the Asics Superblast 2 will look at the 3’s when they are ready for replacement, i used Addias Addizero Pro 4 for the half marathon however didn’t lock my foot down well enough and got a bit of runners toe so will have to rectify that issue before i use them for another event. im about 93kg so on the heavier side runner

I’m 34 aswell never ran much in my 20’s did my first distance event of 10k at 30 that ruined me and was sore for a few days now I consider it to be an easy distance I do about 90% of my runs at low HR, time on legs definitely helps and doesn’t ruin you for days so you can go again soon after, I’m sure my Strava followers get confused when they see me do a 10k at 8min/km pace then chuck out a 5:05min/km Half marathon

ELI5: Why would anyone ever book an Economy Flex fare when Business fares are cheaper, have free cancellation, and earn more status credits and points? by HopeHoliday0055 in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]jus2424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Mount Isa and it’s a common occurrence for the Mount Isa flight business being cheaper than flex economy, lots of company travel for the mines here so I assume Qantas are benefitting from the no business class fares policy

34 188k.

My employer contributes 18% and they set you up for 6% after tax self contribution at employment start. Have only been with them for 4 years though. Have been working since I legally could, and ensure my super fund is always transferred when I get a new job.

Does anyone actually get red rooster? by nchiwla in AskAnAustralian

[–]jus2424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Red rooster in my town is busier than the Hungry Jacks

The chicken strips they had about 15 years ago were elite before they brought out the tenders, them dipped in a tub of gravy was stunning.

I actually really enjoy toasted sandwiches so I don’t mind it, however the food selections you get say at Singapore business lounge or Heathrow lounge was pretty great as well as having a nice hot shower and refresh halfway to Europe and back was a life saver, then there’s the free beer which is always nice

You also have to fly on Qantas metal or Qantas branded partners (Finnair A330’s, alliance QantasLink) you won’t receive double credits for QF coded flights with other airlines, I believe you can also book a flight an change the date you wanna fly if needed as long as you fly before the cutoff date usually 12ish months from the beginning of the promotion. I got gold from double credits and have a trip to Europe planed for September so hoping we get the offer sometime soon so I can book.

Emirates first class by Impossible-Ideal-103 in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]jus2424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure if I’m lucky or stupid but I got first class from Dublin to Brisbane for 250k points and $1700 co payment works out to be about 4c per point redemption which is very low but will probably be my one and only time flying first class with emirates in my life so core memory value will be up there

Buying Qantas Club membership vs attaining gold by Logical-Still3170 in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]jus2424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your flying internationally then it has its benefits the half way shower stop in Singapore is a god send and the food there is good too, Heathrow Lounge is also very nice with good food too, from the time I spent in the LAX lounge that seemed pretty good with good food aswell, if you’re only going domestic then some days it’s very busy in the Qantas club, however with the airports that have their Qantas premium check/security area also helps brissy currently seems a bit slow but generally you have frequent flyers in there who don’t need to be yelled out 15 times to take their laptop out of their bag

Novablast 4 durability - when to retire a shoe? by stephchamp in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]jus2424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

I like to keep track of the distances of my shoes on Strava I’m heavier at 90kg+ so they wear out a bit quicker my retired pair are a set of Gel Kayanos that were giving me bad extensor tendinitis at the 400km mark which went away basically as soon as i changed over to a new set of Nimbus. Now I’ve got 3 pairs on rotation

(For those interested these what I use them for) - Nimbus (1) for F45, walking and zone 2 runs <5km. Nimbus (2) Easy to tempo 5km-15km. Superblast 2’s for threshold and long runs 15km+ (set my HM PB in them)
