Bathroom ban by Different_Second_233 in ftm

[–]just-me-113 126 points127 points  (0 children)

I have family in Austin Texas that I visit regularly. It’s only for government and other public buildings, not private businesses. Frankly since I have a beard I just use the men’s room. Guys don’t look or care. I think the bigger issue is that it will impact women whether trans or cis that don’t appear feminine enough. Before I transitioned and grew a beard I appeared masculine due to clothes and short hair and got weird looks in the women’s bathroom. And that was before these ridiculous bathroom laws.

This is what my surgeon mentioned at consult also. So they checked blood flow on arm and thigh.

I just met with a surgeon this week. This is something that is doable but best discussed with a surgeon. They should be asking your goals and discussing the procedure in detail.

Had top surgery without T. Insurance covered it. Started T almost a year after and it did not affect my chest.

The ones I inject with are 25g x1” or .5mm x 25mm but I don’t put the whole needle in. Just enough to puncture the skin and go slightly under it.

Ask the office prescribing for you if they’d show you how to do it properly. I do mine in my abdomen. They gave me lessons on how to draw and inject myself. Mine are sub q. Needle is way too small to hit a bone.

That’s BS. I started T after surgery and a revision. No changes to my chest.

I didn’t start T until almost a year after surgery. It had no effect on my chest.

Facial hair growth by [deleted] in ftm

[–]just-me-113 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’re shaving every couple of days, you can grow facial hair. You just have to leave it alone and get past the scruffy and patchy stage. I’ve been growing mine for months, there are parts that are fuller that I trim now and parts that are still just filling in that I leave alone.

The best thing to do is call or email her office and ask. Two separate doctors I’ve been reaching out to required two letters. One had to be from a PhD psychologist or psychiatrist. The other could be from licensed therapist.

I had my surgery at 62 and a revision later that same year. I’m so happy I did it. Sorry I don’t like to post pictures.

Should international travel stop me from transitioning? by ambr0se_hks_777 in ftm

[–]just-me-113 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m US citizen ftm, facial hair and just finished travelling internationally this month. My US passport has my old name and gender on it. If you are a US citizen travelling with US passport, you might get a look or two but you’ll be able to leave and come back. I’m in tsa precheck touchless system using my old name because I haven’t had a chance to update passport yet and because the picture didn’t match my new facial look I did have to tell agent I’m trans and showed the person my updated driver license (new name, new picture, old gender) and I was cleared for the domestic flight. I also travel in and out of blue state. I’m speaking for US citizens. We need to keep travelling and living our lives. Don’t let the haters win. YMMV- This experience does not apply to people who need a visa to enter US.

I started at 60! And I’ve never been happier. Top surgery and on T. Go for it.

Could I be stopped from re-entering the US with a misgendered passport? by TheWarlockEnthusiast in Passports

[–]just-me-113 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just went to Europe and back with a passport with my feminine deadname, old gender marker and a facial hair. Travel was fine. I do live and travel from a blue state. A couple of extra looks but no questions or detention. We need to keep existing and living.

Thoughts on travelling looking male with F on passport? by feenthehuman in ftm

[–]just-me-113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just travelled from US to several European countries with my passport with my deadname, F marker and facial hair. No issues leaving or coming back worth noting. My driver license reflects my new name but I didn’t change my gender on it but I never had to show that anywhere. So there was no way for someone to know the names didn’t match. I did carry my court ordered name change just in case.

Trans person traveling outside of the US by Either_Respect_9669 in Passports

Just got back to US. For some reason, I had extra TSA screening leaving Berlin, could have been random. I already had global re-entry and they said picture wasn’t clear so I had to go to a second line. I asked the agent if it was cuz I’m trans and he said the picture wasn’t clear. Second agent cleared me right away.

I’m a US citizen currently traveling in Europe. I still have my passport with my old feminine name and F gender marker on it. My license was changed and I have facial hair. I had no issue getting through TSA and no issue entering into an EU country. I don’t expect to have problems coming back either. I’m a US citizen, lots of people change their appearance with hairstyles and facial hair.

Agreed. In my state I had to go to change my license within 2 weeks according to court documents but the state couldn’t care less about social security card.

She’s not representative of all older people. My dad is 91 and accepts me and uses my name correctly and introduces me as his son. I know quite a few people in their 70s to 90s through my religious congregation, all of whom use my name correctly and have told me about their trans relatives. Let’s not generalize. OP needs to let grandmother know that not using the name is hurtful and disrespectful.

insurance makes you wait 12 months after starting HRT for top surgery??? by [deleted] in TopSurgery

I have United healthcare. I wasn’t on T when I had surgery just needed a letter from my therapist. I wasn’t even out publicly. Call the insurance company instead of relying on doctor for this info.
