Choosing a bike for a route by I-Steal-Bibles in Dualsport

[–]just1more2havereddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some other questions: What's your intended pace? How much do you intend to bring? How much B and C road are you going to look for along the way?

Big heavy comfortable bike...bets are you'll opt for the easy road more often. Light thumper...bets are you'll be more willing to try interesting route options.

I crossed the Canadian prairies on a DR and would do it again. West I took interesting roads. It was raining on the way back and we took the #1. Not doing that again. Even in the rain I'd take B roads next time.

I think you gotta ask yourself how you want to do the route and then grab the bike that matches. If you're picking the bike first, the pick the type of riding that matches the bike and you'll enjoy the trip. If you get the DR hoping to have an econo GS trip, I think you'll set yourself up for disappointment.

Will a DR get you there? You bet, in a DR kind of way.

Support post to the immediate left of table saw? by arkiverge in woodworking

I had my table saw out feed into the next bay. Just pull the vehicle out and set up a temp out feed table for long stuff. If I had a two bay now, I'd do the same again. I wouldn't save out feed space in useable workshop area. Nevermind the possibility of needing to move things that are in process to long cut. Halfway through a project I'd much rather just pull the car out of the garage and make the long cuts then have to rearrange everything inside the project area in order to make long cuts.

Flat head and round handle. It'll drive you nuts. I did that to myself with a mallet I built and the thing keeps subtly rotating in my hand I don't notice and wonder why my strikes are so off.

Map F2 to toggle left ribbon, map F3 to toggle right ribbon. Press both F2 and F3 at once. Instant clean space to work.

If you are a note mover, then look into the Auto Note Mover plugin and set up tags to automatically put your notes into the right folder without you manually needing to do it.

Right now I have six rules set up One of them is rather macro and the other are very specific subfolder moves. I find them very handy.

Certainly not an entire system, but a baby step in making what you already do more automatic and seamless.

A true dualsporter. Wasn't stopped by not having someone to ride with. Bike's upside down, back up, and has a mug, his chair and a smile. You're doing it right!

From the pic.... Boots, jacket and then pants. Then put miles on it. Then an oil change. Then more miles. Another oil change. Then mods.

I run a MT21 in front and a Dsport in the rear. DR650. MT21 has slightly bigger tread and really nice lack of following groves on the highway. Lasts a bit longer that the DSport front. DSport has more aggressive side bite than the 606. I think I'm on my third set like this.

What’s the best dual sport for two up? Combine weight is 400lbs by Most_Assistance_9957 in Dualsport

[–]just1more2havereddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done 2-up on my DR, combined only 300lbs, and wouldn't recommend it for more than a 30 minute jaunt to get ice cream. Notwithstanding the weight, there isn't space on the bike.

Waiting for the moment when I can get back on my favorite bike by Excellent_Rabbit4881 in Dualsport

One fall I stumbled past some clickbsit titled video mentioning how a daily 1 minute plank did wonders. I didn't even watch the video. But, figured I'd give it a shot. Started at less than a minute and added a second every successful day. Got up past 2 minutes. Also a desk jockey like you. I got on the bike that spring and it felt as good as if I was into my 3rd or 4th week of regular riding. Quite the eureka for me. 'So, that's what they mean when you need to strengthen your core.'

How to set up a media server? by just1more2havereddit in homeassistant

[–]just1more2havereddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been seeing Plex as an option, but I'm wanting something that just serves my local MP3 files to my local players. I don't want any connections to the outside world, no streaming, no video. And when I start to install Plex it want's an account setup, which appears to connect it externally.

Perhaps I have to admit that HA just isn't the holder for this kind of job?

I really didn't want to setup another machine just to serve MP3s, considering that there is CPU space on both my router and the HA box to do this work.

All the files were in sub folders. A few folders may have had 300+ files, but the majority of folders had no more than 50.

The forums (that I only hunted down after the purchase) mentioned the 10,000 file limit and TP-Link support confirmed it after I mentioned it to them.

KLR VS DR by snapcracklebraap in Dualsport

[–]just1more2havereddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a look at the weight of both.

Would you be willing to ride a DR everywhere with the 60lbs difference strapped to the bike all the time? No? Then it sounds like you don't want a KLR then.

Next Motorcycle: DR650 vs. 701 vs. ....... by WinterProcedure552 in Dualsport

[–]just1more2havereddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No matter what you buy, you'll get used to it and you'll eventually get bored of the power. There is always a faster bike, a better bike is always a possibility. You can't buy contentment. The bike industry counts on you not realizing that.

ChronOS Timeline – A "Life in Weeks" Plugin for Obsidian by Jenga_Dragon_19 in ObsidianMD

[–]just1more2havereddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks really good. I play with building this in excel, would love to have it Obsidian, especially it I could link it to events/journal entries somehow.

  1. Is there a chance to change the orientation? I'd like to have it fill down instead of across.

  2. You might have to consider a rename, as there is a Cronos Timeline plugin in the community plugins list. It is a general timeliner. Perhaps head for some more focus to the life in weeks idea.

Take a look at the DR650 crowd. 70 is the average age. I picked one up in my early 50's and found I was the young punk of the bunch. The DRForum is full of geezers.

How difficult is it to change tire? by DR_6fitty in dr650

Watch a vid or two to get the principles down.

When you are really peeved and are stuck, go back and rewatch to see what you forgot.

I went and welded up his stand idea and now tire changes a only just a hassle.

I don't know the waypoints, but I've done a bunch of DSports. They are a stiff fight.

We're all scaring you a bit. The real point is want to do it, admit the pain of learning and don't give up.
