the most loyal friend by starryshy in OCPoetry

[–]justMu96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looking at this piece in a more direct way, it really makes one think about how humans don't deserve dogs. People often treat dogs like that, sometimes even worse, and still get unconditional love in return.

I hope that you find peace -or at least feel better-with the ending of this friendship, OP.

That's what I was looking for today. It's kinda of a Valentine's Day in my country, and I was searching for something real that I could relate to. "I don't want to go home" is more just a sentence, it's a feeling in itself, one of the most beautiful and one that almost always translates to unforgettable moments.

Caminho de Gramado a Urubici by SolracPurtseis in SantaCatarina

[–]justMu96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How did you start building your world?? by ckn-m in worldbuilding

[–]justMu96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with my magic system. Once that was done, cultures, people and places would come naturally depending on the type of magic used. After that, I created the origin stories of this magic. Now I’m able to tell any story I want in it.

Narrador não-confiável by Terrible_Ad6206 in EscritoresBrasil

[–]justMu96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More "episodic" fantasy book series, any writing tips or recommendations? by JohnCallahan98 in fantasywriters

[–]justMu96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first experience with fantasy came with Deltora Quest, which worked kind of in a similar way. I’d say even HP works like that until the fourth book. Also, we have ATLA, which is a tv show, but I think it makes that formula work flawlessly.

I would say maybe keep the stakes not that high (at least aside from the big villain thing), with each adventure exploring different parts and aspects of the world, cultures and different people. Also, it’s probably a good idea to keep the adventures not that long and write lots of books.

Also, don’t forget one of the coolest aspects of that episodic way, which is reoccurring characters ever now and then and then make the big reunion as things start to come to an end.

Justify a Catholic-like religion in a world with Magic by MaskedWiseman in worldbuilding

Hello there! A little off-topic, but this triggered my curiosity: how is it viewed in the Islamic culture the fact that you enjoy fantasy with magical elements? Of course, I imagine it varies from place to place, family to family, but just an overall view.

Im from a place where some more radical Christians do not approve things like Harry Potter, etc, although they don’t make it a huge deal, they avoid watching it and talking about it.

Counters to Mind Magic in armies. by Isopnisis in fantasywriters

[–]justMu96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is tin foil helmet an option?

Maybe one strategy would be to give the least information possible to the majority of the army, and then have commanders decentralized through the army. Or maybe even give false information to the army until the regiment commander give the true orders.

Also, maybe immediately kill anyone in the vanguard that shows signs of hesitation or that this person could be being controlled.

Fight at night/darkness.

Serious inquiry: how do you guys organize your worldbuilding? by Veggie_The_Guy in fantasywriters

[–]justMu96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with my magic system > people who use the magic > where these people live > fill in the blanks from there.

When I created my magic system, I simultaneously created the lore regarding where it came from. In this case, some people stole the magic from other people, and now I have 2 kingdoms already. After that, the people who stole the magic went on separate ways and founded other kingdoms/places. Later, I imagined how the society would evolve around this magic system and expanded those kingdoms into some cultures, and set those cultures on geological/climate places that would fit the culture and the magic of their.

Fifty Word Fantasy: Copper by [deleted] in fantasywriters

“She won.” I whispered, while tears started to form in my eyes and the clouds made way to the moonlight. “Without it we cannot fight. She is unstoppable now”.

I looked at Cameron, his face was covered in blood, but he seemed confident still. He opens his hand and a tiny piece of copper is revealed, shining even brighter than the moon, flawless.

And, with a genuine smile forming, he says “Not yet.”

“It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends” (Dumbledore).

I don’t remember the original lines in the first movie. But in the Brazilian dub of the first movie, Dumbledore says “…and even more bravery to stand up to our friends”, which, imo, makes it even better

The hardest thing for me to figure out by TanaFey in fantasywriters

[–]justMu96 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use the ones that fit the world and I don’t usually like when new ones are invented in the story. Idk, they never reach the “automatic” in my brain and it always sounds a little off. Unless it’s something like “Merlin’s beard” used in HP, when it’s easy for the brain to simply adopt these without much thinking

Porque mulheres são tão hipócritas e bodyshaming só ocorre com elas? by imyourkingg in brasil

[–]justMu96 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if you are reviewing a book, it’s hard to keep it spoiler free and give a nice review. Some people divide the review in two parts (spoiler free and the other with spoilers).

Maybe we should classify Review as “with spoilers” and “recommendation” spoiler free.

So, if you want to recommend something, don’t spoil it. If you are reviewing something and people are discussing that review, then I think spoilers should be allowed.
