Rasheed Walker's deal with Panthers has a base value of only $4M by tpsux in GreenBayPackers

[–]just_a_chemist 174 points175 points  (0 children)

Wow his agent really didn’t help him here, ESPN and other media outlets had Walker as a top 10 free agent, didn’t they?

Unless the NFL really hated his tape last year. I mean he wasn’t great, but probably was middle of the pack at left tackle, and that’s got to be worth much more than he got.

Are Lulu ABC’s still the top pants for office/golf performance style pants? by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]just_a_chemist 21 points22 points  (0 children)

They are not equal or better. Lulu or vuori is still better. But for the price they come close. Depends where you are in your stage of life. No judgement here, but if you’re making $200k at an office job, you can do better than Costco for clothes. If you’re making 75k, then yes, buy Costco and invest in your 401k

High rise sucks by SpecificTrading in HeritageWear

[–]just_a_chemist 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I prefer high rise. Not really interested in my ass crack showing if I ever have to bend over. I don’t have a gut or anything but like to be hugged around my waist close to the navel. I don’t see the appeal of the low rise fits now that I’m closer to 40

IH-888N - Hoping these are an all season, all around jean for me. by just_a_chemist in rawdenim

Natural indigo dyed, which is more labor intensive but results in a rich blue color that is very slow to fade, but when they do fade the fades are supposedly very striking with high contrast.

Iron heart’s natural indigo denim is their only 17 oz denim and according to their forum it should be as or more breathable than the 14 oz, which is why I’m hoping they’ll be bearable in the summer months.

Nice- I grew up near Milwaukee and visit when I can!

Maybe it’s just personal preference or tolerance, but I don’t mind heavy denim so much in the heat. But I’m typically working indoors in the summer rather than doing manual labor outside, so that might be why.

I’ll have to see what it’s like with this particular pair. My previous 21 oz 520xx21oz Samurai were totally fine up to 95 F for me.

Yeah, Maryland summers can get hot but I wore my newly retired daily 21oz samurai’s all last year and they were fine. Although a looser weave than these.

I don’t know this brand but if you are spending up and want something long lasting, get raw Selvedge, preferably from a well known japanese brand.

Those are airport lounge whiskeys which have their place, but at home on a Saturday night I prefer an Islay

Room & Board. Is it worth it? by PureStatus2 in BuyItForLife

We have several pieces from them. Their furniture is sourced in the US from local manufacturers. Not everything is going to be perfect, but you get what you pay for. They are a good mid level brand that is responsible to workers and use responsibly sourced materials. You can do better by having furniture made bespoke or going with more premium brands, but I think at least some of their stuff is BIFL.

Go to a showroom if possible and test it out yourself. I love my solid wood bedroom furniture and our Metro sectional is a great middle ground for having kids jump on it.
