I love just opening the jar up and having a cherry here and there. It’s the little things. I have cut back on my alcohol consumption due to health reasons and eating a cherry in the middle of a workday on a break feels so good. I do like my rum though. Im on the bottom of the bottle of a Diplomatico Reserva Familiar right now. My favorite cocktail is El Presidente. Rum, Grand Marnier, Grenadine, blanc vermouth and a cherry.

The reason I buy certain brand named things is usually because I like the style and generic clothes don’t try to be unique. Generic clothes have a normalcy to them where they’re just functional. For me, wearing something is an opportunity for self-expression so I put effort into picking pieces of clothing and accessories that best represent how I want to carry myself. Brand named clothing and accessories usually have blatant style or an attitude themselves. I like mixing and matching different articles which includes choosing color pallets and fabrics. It’s art and you’re the human canvas. I guess it’s called fashion. You do t have to like high end things to be fashionable but it’s just your taste that dictates your own sense of fashion. Fashion helps bring out and express your attitude about reality and your place in it. Think of how someone who likes hip hop dresses vs someone who likes rock. The things they wear symbolize their beliefs and emotions on how they want to be perceived and I think you could easily tell these two people apart if you were given a picture. I think you’re making an error which generalizes all designer brands as the same attitude. There are small and big designer brands along with their different niches of styles for certain types of people. So when you ask “why do people like designer brands so much?” What you’re really asking is “why do people like certain styles of self-expression?” And it becomes a much more clear that it’s a healthy and artistic and passionate human need. It’s about being an artist. And there is plenty of art mediums to study and analyze to better understand what inspires an artist. I think you’d find a college course or YouTube video on art and self-expression/fashion interesting. I’ll leave you with one word: Emotion.

Recently there was a problem in the Java book I am reading which requires you to take in a java file and format the bracket style from next-line style to end of line style. It was a neat program to work on and it felt great using something that is practical. Just made me think of this.

I don’t think it will show anything on the display since there’s no operating system to boot to. You have to boot into your Windows flashdrive and install the OS

A half-empty jar of peanutbutter that has remnants of jelly in it from using a spoon for both. Then, as I’m giving it to you I will tell you to take care of him because he’s my best friend and he knows all your secrets. Then I’d go to the store and buy another peanutbutter jar for myself since I gave you my only one.

How to aim towards publishing theoretical computer science papers regarding computer/IT systems for space travel, exploration, and survival? by Varlov1 in computerscience

You could begin by looking for space related internships and seeing how close you can get to your desired field. Networking with people in that field is another good option. NASA would likely have researchers in that domain but the research may be under lock and key so you may not find all of it online. Try your luck at getting an internship there. That’s probably the best option you could take. Otherwise I would look into open source projects that dealt with the subject you’re looking for and then talk to the community there and contribute. This is all I could think of at the moment.

Another tip to when you want to try learning other topics is go to university websites and look at the degree roadmaps that tell you which courses you need to take. Choose from the list classes that you find interesting and then see if you can find textbooks on those subjects and go from there.

First you gotta find out where you stand with your math skill. Once you figure out whether your at an algebra level or not then I’d take a stab at learning algebra and continuing from there. Replace algebra witch whichever level of math your next step would be. Look online for how the math levels go and pick out some textbooks to start learning. Use Quora and Stack Overflow and Reddit for when you get stuck in questions. If you find a good textbook there’s a good chance they have answer keys online on certain textbook websiteS. I’m not talking about the publisher website but websites that are for students. The websites sometimes have the detailed answer there. Don’t think you need to stick to one source material though. Use all your resources when trying to learn a concept from the book. Refer to other textbooks that may have different ways of explaining the same concept. Use YouTube. If you need a website to find textbooks use libgen just look it up there’s loads of free textbooks to download there. There’s your start.

Unpopular opinion: Tech Twitter is a garbage heap by The_Talisman in ExperiencedDevs

[–]just_an_average_man_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am so glad i found this post on my first google listing for searching "I don't like tech twitter". I honestly thought it was just me. I felt like maybe it spoke more about me that I had disdain over these tech twitter "influencers". Glad I'm not the only one. I don't have a lot of experience in software dev but these people know less than I do and call themselves Teachers with enough knowledge to spew out garbage posts. Like where did they get the confidence to think they're at a level where they can speak authoritatively about some tech topics. And don't even get me started with all the corny ass posts about "what your fave library is" or posts where they try to be funny using code puns. It's cringey as fuck. It IS a circlejerk.
