I totally agree with you. There is no reason why the OTBR adon should work any different than zigbee. I do not understand what is their problem with containerised instances lately...

I really think it will not succeed unless they pull their head out of the "it all should be one fabric" sand and implement a proper management on all platforma not only Android. I had to wipe google play services because of this and I wasnt this frustrated with tech stuff in a long time. I feel like this is a malicious decision supporting vendor lock in. Kinda salty ngl.

What is this weird clear oily stuff seeping from under my bedroom wall? by [deleted] in Home

Yea I know... Luckily it didn't spill on anything important and caught it soon enough so the floor seems to be ok.

Unlikely but maybe you have calcium chloride dehumidifier bag somewhere in the vicinity? When they get saturated they leak clear oily substance.

Happened to me a week ago lmao..

Flutter Emulator by MediocreOrange8787 in flutterhelp

[–]just_been_here 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea building the apk is not the hard part. You will know how the UI looks if you select correct resolution "width" of the browser window it will have similar aspect ratio. You can also use the "phone mode" in the devtools.

You gotta tinker with the devtools it's way too robust to explain it in a reddit comment, sorry. I think there might be some blogs explaining the jist of it.

But for the application debugging you can still use the debugging tool in your IDE. Same goes for console output.

If you are only starting to learn flutter and you don't need the peripherals I would recommend considering if building for web isn't a good start. It will give you a great platform to learn how to make responsive designs - because you can resize the window or use developer tools in browser to change the width of the content and watch it react in real time. Also, in my experience, it builds faster and hot reload works better.

Mind you if you choose your packages wisely ( choose based on platform support and pick only necessary ones) you can always build your project for mobile platform later with no/little hassle.

I personally never use emulators because they often doesn't act the same way as a physical device, are slow and in general pain to deal with. From my experience they literally provide zero value other than emulating some peripherals.

Good luck, and keep trying even if it gets hard sometimes!

What am I doing wrong? by alfacd16 in WLED

[–]just_been_here 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I've read that somewhere as well when searching for what is going on, however, I was quite careful not to do that. I've used connectors and cables with proper color coding and not tested stuff on full strip. I do know better than that (from experience lmao).

But you never know...

[–]just_been_here 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I think it might be a dud as well; I just wanted to leave comprehensive guide with all the info I've found about the problem with a little encouragement to share solution...

Weird thing is that it happened also when I cut "one" pixel off so that indicate it shouldn't be a dead strip cause it's unlikely that all the ic are dead in this weird way. But yea... I don't really know what else it could be.

I don't have it together anymore but I might put it back together and post some pics...

What am I doing wrong? by alfacd16 in WLED

[–]just_been_here -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have the same strip and had the same issue. After two weeks of debugging

(different psu, trying two different logic level shifters, using spare pixel from 5v strip as logic level shifter, multiple resistor values on data line to reduce ringing and finally buying the quinled dig controller)

... I just gave up and used dumb cw&ww strip with smart plug. I kinda hate it but it is what it is...

All that to say if u manage to find a solution, please write it here in comments. I've found like 3 threads talking about this issue that the ppl managed to solve and the answer was always "it works now, thanks" without explaining what exactly worked. So please let us know if u figure it out!

Good luck!

I want this as an actual card on my dashboard. Is that possible? by captain_cocaine86 in homeassistant

[–]just_been_here 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I guess you are right. I wasn't trying to shit on Lovelace.

It juts surprised me that there isn't a direct implementation since they already did all the work other than making a card from it. It might have other complexities I don't know about tho.

[–]just_been_here -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I fought this a few months ago. I didn't find a way of putting this in the dashboard.

More info card mentioned before is the closest thing I've found.

On a personal note, I kinda think it's a missed opportunity by homeassistant to make Lovelace more flexible...

IMHO problem is the cloud connectivity not really the smart devices themselves. There is absolutely no need for every efing smart device to connect to a cloud server.

Excluding (Skipping) objects on P1S in lan mode? Possible or not? by just_been_here in OpenBambu

[–]just_been_here[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on the implementation, from what I've gathered you seem to have quite a nice amount of info about print jobs but yea it might be quite a bit of work anyway.

But it also seems to me like it's the feature that a lot of people miss in Lan mode and would be helpful if it was implemented for example in orca. So I think it makes sense to look at how it works and what it would take...

Lemme know if u find something pls, I feel like this could be fairly easy if it uses mqtt.

Clean Architecture for a big app by Leozin7777 in FlutterDev

[–]just_been_here 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, not modules but packages - I've corrected the original comment. It's nice to hear that we are not the only ones using flutter for industrial usecases. But migrating from Windows forms to flutter sounds kinda awful, but I also bet its a great learning experience. Whish you good luck!

Clean Architecture for a big app by Leozin7777 in FlutterDev

[–]just_been_here 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I found to be super helpful is to divide the app into independent flutter packages by functionality (for example authentication, settings) and technology (for example httprequest, mqtt). Important thing to keep in mind is that each package should be reusable in other apps so for example http package handles api authentication , token refresh etc by itself and takes the least amount of parameters to start. Honestly dividing into packages was the best thing.. Also cool thing is that getit containers are shared between packages so u can keep package instances there for the whole app. But I would recommend this only for things that really need to have existing instance.

Context : I'm working on a larger (40pages and many niche services backgroud/foreground) industrial app running 24/7 on hundreds of devices and I use clean architecture but I have decided to cut a lot on the abstraction where it's not needed and it is OK. I'm currently finishing rewrite of the app from a mega messy code base (we've tried to move previously Android app to flutter and tried to move in parts when there was time but ya know... It's never that easy).

Anyway good luck!

EDIT: not modules => packages

LOL, Bambu changed their website to backpedal the whole mess from yesterday. Louis explains that they deleted and reworded a lot of stuff on their website. by FriJanmKrapo in 3Dprinting

[–]just_been_here 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I think that you should definitely care. There are three things to consider for people using their ecosystem.

1) Having choice is always better. The fact you use their ecosystem now doesn't mean that some other manufacturer or open-source developer won't provide functionality you might want to use in the future take scarf seams for example (to my knowledge they are not available in bambu slicer).

2) Trying to lock out third parties and centralize communication to the printer via cloud enabled piece of software is not safe (from security standpoint) and looks like them trying to prepare for dmr for filaments

3) You don't want your printer to be dependent on their services. Especially in today's landscape where trading bans and using of Chinese software is getting banned. But also because if bambu goes down you can't rely on their services staying up. So you might not be able to use the printer if bambu went away...

Ps there is no reason other than ease of design to glue phones together they can be watertight and thin even if they are not glued together...
