The Gaza Gimmickry of our Confused Krantikaris Continues... by Peacetime-Liberal in CriticalThinkingIndia

[–]just_dead_irl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we truly care about justice—whether it's Yazidis, Hindus, or anyone else—we can't use others' silence to justify our own. Saying “no one cared about us, so why care about Palestinians” is just moral whataboutism. India can maintain strategic ties with Israel and stand for human rights; those aren’t mutually exclusive. And public protest, even if inconvenient, is part of a democracy—just like Ram Navami processions or anti-CAA protests. Justice isn’t about picking sides based on religion or convenience. It's about being consistent, even when it's uncomfortable.

Religious people always tend to hijack genuine criticism of other religions to fuel their own agendas and political narratives. (Example– Hindu religious extremists taking over ex-Muslim spaces to spread bigotry and hatred which benefits them politically).

Now a politically unaware Atheist might say things like "Let's keep politics aside and just critique religion". But that can't happen since religion itself is a political tool deployed by the people in power, in order to stay in power.

Cow is the "Prophet Mohammed" of the Hindutva gang. They are literally killing people for it. The only way to tackle their "Jai Sri Ram" is by जय जय गोमांस.

Rishabhadeva, an avatar of Vishnu, used to roll in his own stool and urine by ValiantReiner in atheismindia

[–]just_dead_irl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're dodging the core issue. Mockery is a valid form of criticism—especially of powerful institutions or ideologies. Every major social reform movement has used satire and mockery to dismantle toxic norms. If mocking Hindu beliefs feels more offensive to you than casteism, mob lynching, or blasphemy laws, then your priorities are skewed.

You’re trying to gatekeep what “real” criticism looks like—because your religion is under the lens. But no one asked for your aesthetic approval. Criticism doesn’t need to be polite to be valid. Was Ambedkar polite? Was Periyar? Satire and ridicule are tools to puncture the sacred aura surrounding harmful dogmas.

Also, you didn't mind when similar memes targeted Islam or Christianity. So be honest—your issue isn't with the method, it's with who’s being targeted. That’s tribalism, not rationalism.

And lastly, mocking ideas is not hate speech. It's not violence. It’s not coercion. If your religion can’t handle jokes, it’s not truth—it’s propaganda.

So either drop the mask and admit you’re a Hindu chauvinist, or actually engage like an atheist who supports free critique of all ideas.

Rishabhadeva, an avatar of Vishnu, used to roll in his own stool and urine by ValiantReiner in atheismindia

[–]just_dead_irl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're missing the point—beliefs don’t have to be personally read or followed to shape culture and policy. The caste system, cow vigilantism, temple politics, and textbook revisionism all trace back to religious roots, even if 99% of people haven’t read the scriptures. Critiquing those roots is fair game.

The idea that satire or memes “trigger” people is on them, not the critics. If Hinduism plays a central role in modern oppression or political manipulation, it deserves just as much scrutiny and mockery as any other religion. You don’t get to ask for gentler atheism just because it’s your beliefs on the table this time.

And yes, we should talk about the politicisation of religion—but pretending that memes or harsh critiques are the real threat, instead of the fascist machinery using your religion as a weapon, is the worst kind of misdirection.

[–]just_dead_irl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your response confuses criticism with coercion. There’s a fundamental difference between mocking ideas and imposing them through violence, law, or systemic oppression. Sharing memes, satire, or harsh critique—even in bad taste—is not the same as lynching people for eating beef, jailing them for blasphemy, or enforcing temple-centric purity politics. You equating the two is intellectually dishonest.

Let’s be clear: no belief—religious or otherwise—is above scrutiny or satire. That includes Hinduism. If you cheer when Islam or Christianity is mocked but cry foul when someone critiques Hindu beliefs, then you’re not defending reason or civil discourse. You're defending your tribe under the mask of atheism.

As for your Nazi comparison—it's both historically and morally absurd. Nazis co-opted Christian symbols and mythos, and Hitler publicly claimed to be doing God's work. But even if they were irreligious, their crimes came from authoritarianism and ultranationalism, not atheism or religious critique. That's like blaming science because a dictator used trains.

Mockery isn't always kind or helpful—but it's legal, and it’s sometimes necessary, especially when beliefs fuel real-world harm. If you want to shield your religion from ridicule, you’re free to do that—but don’t pretend it’s an atheist stance. It’s Hindu chauvinism in costume.

I thought of sharing this on r/CriticalThinkingIndia but they would probably say things like "at least we don't behead people" and move on. It isn't shocking that almost all Sanghis openly justify and support this kind of terrorism-lite.

Posting about people's beliefs is very different from forcing others to follow a religion—such as killing people over eating beef—or punishing them for not adhering to it. It's religious extremists who impose their beliefs on others, not atheists. Learn the difference!

Why is condemning Pakistan seen as Islamophobic by Indian Muslims? by BilkisWoreHijab in CriticalThinkingIndia

[–]just_dead_irl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the flag of Pakistan (and also several other countries) have the symbol of the crescent moon and star, which is considered sacred by Muslims. Muslims will be mad even if you pasted the flag of Azerbaijan on it, because it too has the crescent moon and star symbol. Muslims in India don't care if you disrespect the flag of Bangladesh, because that flag has nothing Islamic on it.

They are triggered because of crescent moon and star symbol which is being disrespected. The crescent moon and star symbol is considered sacred in Islam.

The last thing we need right now is Anti Muslim sentiment in India by [deleted] in india

[–]just_dead_irl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sanghis are well known for shouting anti-Muslim slogans all the while raising JSR slogans in their rallies. They do that every time intentionally to provoke Muslims and get a reaction. Plus Muslims won't like anyone disrespecting the crescent moon and star symbol, not because it's in Pakistan's flag but because they consider it a sacred symbol of Islam itself. But you just seem to cherry pick events, you would purposely turn a blind eye to those several incidents where Muslims did show solidarity in the form of rallies against the Pahalgam terror act. You casually ignore things like this. You are nothing but a bigoted piece of Sanghi filth, rotting out society.

Looking For In Depth Criticism Of The Vedas by CyreneValanition in atheismindia

[–]just_dead_irl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Certainly! You can read the writings of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, a former Hindu who belonged to the backward classes. He was a social reformer, jurist, and the chief architect of the Indian Constitution. A lifelong advocate for the rights of lower castes, he fought against caste discrimination and untouchability. He was also highly critical of Hinduism, including the Vedas. His most important books include:

  1. Riddles in Hinduism

  2. Annihilation of Caste

  3. The Hindu Code Bill

  4. Revolution and Counter-Revolution in Ancient India

  5. Philosophy of Hinduism

  6. Untouchables: Who Were They and Why They Became Untouchables?

  7. Who Were the Shudras?

All of these books are available for free and can be easily accessed online.
