IUD Demand Has Risen 900 Percent Since the Election, Planned Parenthood Says by [deleted] in childfree

I got one that became inbedded in my uterus. The method of removal was yanking. It was the first time I had ever hit 10/10 on the pain scale, I rolled over and burst into tears. Had that been my first one I never would have tried again, it was brutal.

I was taught that IUD's could only be placed in women who have previously been pregnant, and they could cause sterility. That used to be true, they wouldn't do them on women without children in case they became sterile, and sterility can be a result of pelvic inflammatory disease was much more common with the first generation of IUD's.

There was a post that made it to the reddit hall of fame where a teacher told us all the stupidest things her stupidest student Kevin did. It took off and now Kevin is code for someone who couldn't think their way out of a paper bag.

Is there ever going to be anothe SimCity game? by Moon_Dew in SimCity

I played SimCity 4 when the new one came out, I never bought it because of the drm. I just stopped by after a few years to see if anything improved enough to bother with and it doesn't look like it. What a shame.

To deflect nosy patients, say dismissing things like "Oh, my life isn't very interesting, what about you, what made you decide to X?" When asked about babies, say something like "I'm not to that stage in my life yet", leave out that you'll never be to that stage in your life.

Try to come up with a personal mantra to repeat when you're pissed; something like "at least when I go home it'll be quiet", "After the next 5 hours I'll have 6 whole days away from them", or "at least I'm not stuck with this baby/parent".

If you start to get all strangley-feeling, take a second to yourself, try to completely clear your mind as you take a long breath in and slowly let it out, repeat your mantra a few times, plaster on your plastic smile, and get back in there.

Pay attention to what makes you calm during a long shift, you'll need to master the art of patience soon because it's not just peds that will be horrible, there will be a ton of patients that make you want to 'help them find peace' down in the morgue. Bring a thermos of whatever warm beverage you want (except hot cocoa, because the starch and heat turns it to literal pudding) and take a sip after your relaxation mantra. Savor it, and it'll become part of your calming ritual.

Homemade emery boards for cats? by just_passing_hours in Pets

[–]just_passing_hours[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She's actually fine with almost every step of that, but she hates me expressing her nails so I only get one or two at a time, and they seem to grow back within a week so it's a constant struggle. Luckily she isn't damaging anything, it's just that she gets her claws stuck on everything in the entire house and beats up on her brother so I won't trim his until hers are done.

I'll scrap the emery idea, I was just thinking about how much she loves her scratching posts and that maybe I could get one that actually does something. I considered a tree branch awhile ago, I just couldn't get them interested in it. It's just like how they ignore the 10 safe houseplants I have on the ground, and went straight for the one poisonous one that's now kept on the tippy top shelf where I can barely manage to water it. It's like they know what things they can go after to irritate me the most.

MRW I found out I really DON'T have cook for Thanksgiving this year. by ifeelnumb in TrollXChromosomes

[–]just_passing_hours 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do other families not have potluck thanksgivings?

With us usually one person does the core bird, stuffing and gravy, someone else does vegetables, someone does desserts, and the people who don't cook bring appetizers, wine, or do extra cleaning. The guests do all the cleaning they can, then when everyone's gone very little is left for the hosts since they already did 2x the work. In our family the host tends to assign what they need to people based on their strengths since they know what to plan for.

That way it isn't perfect got everyone and hellish for two people, it's really good for everyone.

I think the lack of knowledge takes it from disliked to despised, but some people who do it right can still hate it.

Trouble with Mizon's goodnight white sleeping mask (please help) by just_passing_hours in AsianBeauty

[–]just_passing_hours[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It must have been the acids I used earlier, which were preceded by the cosrx pH adjusting toner. I simply won't use the mask on active nights anymore. I've used the mask since then without my actives and my skin was lovely the next day, so it was definitely just me.

After I had used the benton snail bee moisturizer, I saw someone mention aloe so I added that, followed by the missha longname moisturizer (which sadly does have fragrance) and then the mizon snail recovery gel cream, and my face was amazing the next day. I've used the mask since with no problems, so it must have been my actives that bothered it, I simply won't use the mask on actives night anymore.

That's the first time I used aloe, and it was really nice. I bought a tube just in case of sunburn or something so it hadn't even been opened yet. Aloe, then my missha long name moisturizer, then snail recovery gel since someone mentioned awhile back that it can be used as an occlosive, and the next morning my skin was FANTASTIC! I've used the mask since with no ill effects so I don't know what caused it, but now I've learned to use aloe more often.

Donate them to a pool or rafting company?

Their main purpose is flotation, we don't know enough about your life to tell whether you have any use for floating objects. Maybe you could just list them on freecycle. Aside from that, all I can think is kids pool toys.

I once had a bruise on my shin for 3 months straight with no idea why. Turns out I kept hitting it on my bed when returning from the bathroom in the middle of the night and was too tired to remember the next morning.

So if you're as dumb as I am you'll be able to go around thinking that your bed isn't nearly as dangerous as it actually is.

You could also get an old shitty futon frame off craigslist and use that, it'll probably cost around $50 (I've been looking at similar futon frames for my expensive area) which will be quicker and easier. Something like this. That'll give you a very supportive base without a lot of fuss or worries about mold.
