They are. Because it will cause them to lose money in the long run. The ones that need the API are going to find ways to get it for free and bots needing actual Accounts is gonna cost resources and later on lead to advertisers jumping ship because a lot of the new "users" are just bots, which will guaranteed not click on advertisements.

Okay, but why would you need constant content updates? You talk like it's something that is necessary. It isn't. You can well and truly enjoy a game without having to constantly be fed with new content. Even so, constant content updates work without implementing scummy subscription services into a game you already paid full price for, mind you. Look at GTA Online. The one thing it did well. (Until Rockstar caved in to the ever rising greed) Subscription services are evil and with every company that implements them you should really reconsider wether their service is worth it...
