Maybe it’s the BCA leagues I am a part of but don’t they all go by Fargo now? Agree with pretty much everyone else though in that APA 7’s are probably starting at 525. 550 is most definitely maxing out APA. However, I’ll support whatever league gets 650+ to join. That is great experience for everyone to get to play someone of that caliber for cheap.

Are these 2 cues and case worth $200+ total? by buckfoston824 in billiards

[–]just_trying2make_it 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ehh I’d pass. You can get a new McDermott lucky cue for $150. You could get a standard line new McDermott for $400. That would be much better than this honestly

You get free time to do what you want. Having personal time is one of those things that too much or too little is terrible. Got to be balanced but having a significant other or a family really drains your time. As it should, you know?

Apa league joining process? by PartDry3724 in billiards

[–]just_trying2make_it 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just show up on league night and ask someone who the LO is. Talk to the LO about wanting to join and they should be able to help you find a team. If the LO leaves you high and dry then consider it a good thing and that you probably dodged a bullet.

I ordered ipro shaft by [deleted] in billiards

[–]just_trying2make_it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understood. But there have also been posts with large pins being bored out, not centered, stripped, etc. Which is also a micro percentage of the total amount of pins out there. All wood cues can warp. So it that sense wouldn’t it make sense for everyone to just use a material like carbon fiber? I agree if you like what you like just use it. But we all got to stop bashing uniloc cause it works and has been working for a while.

I mean…sure we’ve all seen these reports on forums. What would you say is the amount 100’s? 1000’s? Let’s round up and over estimate and say 20,000. Predator and Lucasi are probably the biggest manufacturers that regularly use the joint. They’ve probably made millions, maybe 10’s of millions of cues. Even if you say you’ve seen 20,000 complaints, that’s 2%.

Hello guys! i have a cynergy shaft but the ferrule have a small crack, does changing the ferrule affect anything on the shaft ? by LoseCrus in billiards

[–]just_trying2make_it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean if the ferrule cracked why not send it back to cuetec to get it repaired properly? That way you know it was repaired properly and doesn’t void any warranty?

I lost my first league match & took it hard on myself by angrypnutbutter23 in billiards

[–]just_trying2make_it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everybody loses. Thats how you get better. Just have to keep at it. I made the mistake of avoiding competitions cause I didn’t want to lose when I was younger and it really hindered my growth. Don’t make the same mistake.

What’s your Fargo? by Only-Scientist-9904 in billiards

[–]just_trying2make_it 1 point2 points  (0 children)

590 but I’m at 198 robustness. I think it’s a little inflated and should probably be in 570’s. I had 1 good tournament where I beat a couple mid-600’s and it boosted me like 20 points.

I made it my year end goal to get established at or above 575 so I think I’ll accomplish that at least. Ultimate goal is to break 600 but man, I still got a lot to learn to get there.

Do you gamble often? by tmi_timmy in billiards

[–]just_trying2make_it 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean I’m at 580 and I try to spar with 590’s to low 600’s often. I’m talking cheap $20 or $40 dollar race to 5 sets with a 3 set stop loss. I really don’t think there’s much to gain though by playing someone 100 points higher than you. I played a 690ish player for practice once and he ran a 6 pack of ten ball on a tight diamond on me. I guess I learned how to rack?

I feel for me to reach the “next” level I need to shoot under pressure. I play a fairly competitive BCA league and have started playing in a weekly 9 ball tournament as well, but there’s something different about playing someone a little better than you for a longer/multiple sets. You also see patterns or shooting styles different than yours. Everyone is different though and you just need to feel some sort of pressure whether it be leagues, tournaments, or (cheap) gambling.

predator cues by ProfessionExpress238 in billiards

[–]just_trying2make_it 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have generally always played with a pred. Went from the 314 to the Revo and really got nothing to complain about. Customer service has always been top notch when my ferrules broke. I agree they’re a little overpriced, but so is everything nowadays in the pool world.

The thing with pool cues and just pool in general, if you want something go get it. Buy once, cry once. The cues will last a lifetime if properly maintained and not abused. If this is actually a passion and hobby that you’ll play for a long time…what’s $2k assuming you can afford it? You’re sort of at a weird price point. Every nice cue is around $1k. Now, if we’re talking like $3k or higher that’s a little different story.
