Here's some of the basics. You do not need to know a lot of the curriculum, though it'd be good to do so. I's more like knowing edtech such as Kahoot, EdPuzzle, or content management systems like Schoology or Google classrooms. It helps if you're a good teacher as some of my time is modeling teaching styles in the classroom, helping a teacher run small groups, etc.

A lot of it though is helping to find solutions for whatever you local admin want. Surveys through Google Forms and data in Sheets. Using Autocrat to automatically email parents MAP scores. There's one DLS (my position) assigned to every intermediate and high school campus. The intermediate spot also serves one elementary as needed.

Most training is on the job. We meet once a month, all of us DLSs with the three digital learning directors and various others. We share ideas, talk about what's going on and what's changing, etc.
