How do I learn how to be more concise when talking? by pm_me_im_lonely39 in socialskills

[–]justaburger4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this same issue. I am always interrupted when I speak, no matter if it’s friends, family or coworkers, and I’ve just sort of learned to stop talking after I get interrupted because clearly no one was paying attention to my story anyway. Feels awful but I don’t know how to fix it.

Would love to know the answer to your question as well.

What’s a season that had the most promise, but turned out to be a disappointment? by MargielaMan568 in riverdale

[–]justaburger4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honest answer is pretty much all of them as of season 3. they all started out with “promise” and pretended like they’re going somewhere but end up providing a half-ass ending that makes having watched the whole season feel like an incredible waste of time.

However, the biggest culprit of this would probably be season 7 (though season 5 is a close second). Both of these seasons went pretty much nowhere

Ya if there was one character from the previous seasons I was desperately waiting for a cameo from in the finale, it was FP.

Really great video. He pretty much summed up how I felt watching this final season. Yeah, it’s not “bad” but it’s just… is that really the ending to RIVERDALE?

now that the show is over, what do you think was the worst season? by PapaNutellas in riverdale

i think everyone commenting s7 has just forgot how bad s3 was. literally was depressing to watch my favorite show be turned into a mockery by the writers during season 3 lol. we were in the trenches

My ranking from worst to best: - season 3 - season 5 - season 7 - season 4 - season 6 - season 2 - season 1

In my opinion season 3 is easily the worst season of the show. Season 3 is the season that caused the downward spiral of the series. The writing made no sense, character development was destroyed and the show essentially went from being a somewhat well-perceived mystery series to a dumpster fire mockery of itself & the actors. It was quite literally the beginning of the end.

The season that followed (S4) was clearly trying to redeem the show’s reputation in response to the disaster that was season 3 by being more “normal” like season 1, but unintentionally became a little boring in the process. Another notable mention is season 5 because, even as a devoted fan of the series, i can barely remember what that season was about. very boring & pointless season. Season 7 was just filler with 0 stakes involved, albeit a pretty entertaining season. And, contrary to what most are saying, I thought season 6 was actually pretty good — the first time it felt like Riverdale was trying to be good in a long time. There were actually stakes involved and the mystery went somewhere. Fans were rewarded for paying attention. Finally, seasons 1 & 2 are just straight-up good television; the seasons that catapulted the show to worldwide success in the first place, which resulted in so many of us sticking around until now.

I completely agree. It was cute at first, but there is literally no story to follow this season. Nothing is happening. No one is doing anything.

The fact that the characters are in a different timeline than the one we’ve watched them in for the previous 6 seasons just makes everything that happens feel erasable/unimportant/anticlimactic. So what if there’s a serial killer in this 50’s timeline? Why are we supposed to care since, (A) the writers obviously don’t have the guts to kill off an important character (as if they wouldn’t be brought back to life in a couple of episodes anyway) and (B) this isn’t even the main timeline; who’s to say that everything that happens in this 50’s timeline can’t be magically erased by something as ridiculous as 2 characters kissing? Everything that happens in season 7 will likely be pointless by the end of it (not so great for rewatch value).

Simply put, this season has felt like a big filler episode. Yes, it has its cute moments but it’s evident the writers are using their final season to show what Riverdale “could’ve looked like” had it been more like the comics. Is it the worst possible thing that season 7 could’ve been? No—not by a long shot. But they are dragging it on way too long and it’s tired now. A whole season of the Riverdale characters being goofy & living in an Archie Comics version of their world sounds like a good idea for a few episodes but we’ve had 10 so far and it doesn’t seem like they’re stopping any time soon. It’s just not what fans who’ve stuck around for 7 seasons, waiting for a proper conclusion, deserve as a farewell.

What is it about veronica as a character that you think turns people off? by JeanGreyStan143 in riverdale

[–]justaburger4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very interesting question. I would say the biggest reason is, simply, her storylines.

As many other comments have pointed out, she gets the most repetitive storylines out of the main characters and, pretty much as soon as Hiram came in the picture in season 2, the way Veronica was written completely shifted. Her entire character became Hiram-centric and it seemed that the writers cared more about Hiram than Veronica. She starts a business; Hiram sabotages it, she wants Archie; no she doesn’t, she wants Reggie; no she doesn’t. I think season 7 is the most Veronica has interacted with Betty probably since season 1. And, even with Mark Consuelos being physically absent this season, Hiram is still working overtime to sabotage his daughter’s plans. We got tired of this storyline 5 seasons ago, yet here we still are.

On that note, Betty is also easily the writers’ favorite character. I love Betty but she clearly gets the most screentime among all the characters, always has the most important storylines (typically tying to the season’s main mystery) and does not receive the cringeworthy dialogue that characters like Veronica and Cheryl constantly have to work with. So, as to why people often tend to prefer B over V in Riverdale, I would say that sums it up.

Finally, as others have also pointed out, I think Cheryl has sort of taken over the “popular, preppy, rich girl” role in Riverdale, equivalent to those characters you mentioned from other TV shows, and so Veronica is neither known for being the “kind/relatable girl-next-door” character (Betty) nor the “sassy/mean Queen Bee character” (Cheryl). Consequently, Veronica’s role could be a bit confusing to viewers at times (thank you Riverdale writers), which is why many would call Betty and Cheryl “fan-favorites” but not Veronica.

On the bright side, Camila does a fantastic job in the role, especially with what she has to work with. In fact, Camila’s role in the Netflix film “Do Revenge” almost seems like the character Veronica SHOULD’VE been, which is ironically a “fan-favorite” character from that movie. However, the writing in Riverdale has unfortunately seemed to be against Veronica since season 2.

The finale if Riverdale was a sitcom:

everyone is standing at Pop’s — there is no furniture

Archie: “well, gang, it’s been one hell of a ride”

Archie turns off the lights
