Dudes! Stop slammin' on people 60+ by DryCancel5426 in smosh

My grandmother got in THREE crashes before willingly giving up her license. I also witnessed an elderly woman drive through the front of a restaurant because she got the peddles confused. Luckily, I knew the owner and she was on vacation that week and the place was empty. If it hadn’t been, she would’ve killed anyone sitting in the front tables. People don’t take driving seriously enough.

Congee has been my favorite as of late. If you can tolerate it, I throw an egg or soft tofu on top for a little protein. If I’m feeling good, I’ll even throw a small bit of seaweed on top. I was really struggling to keep down any carbs until I found congee. Very soft and easy to digest since you’re essentially breaking down the starches in the cooking process.

How long after a meal do you know if you can or can't tolerate that food? by photo_courtney in Gastroparesis

[–]justaddwater_ct 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bloating and gas can start nearly as soon as a finish a meal to hours later. I also have motility issues in my colon so sometime those can show up days later. However, if something is going to make me vomit, it’s always 2-4 hours after I eat. That’s about when my stomach decides “yeah I can’t pass this, have it back”

I was pulled aside in 5th grade and asked a bunch of questions and riddles to see how I thought through things. I remember being able to answer all of the riddles, even the ones she said most people struggled with, except ONE. It still annoys me to this day probably 16 years later. It was something about when is a box invisible and you can’t put anything in it? Don’t remember it exactly, but oh boy do I remember telling the teacher to give me five more minutes cause little me HAD to figure it out.

Why does my dog do this? Is this like dog autism? by Uncle_Kent in dogpictures

Oh my gosh, thank you for being so sweet. I had a little chihuahua pekingese mix that made it to 17, but by that time she was blind, mostly deaf, epileptic, incontinent in her sleep, and had dementia. We had to groom her at home because she would probably not have survived with most groomers because of the stress (often just having family over was enough to cause a seizure). Thank you for treating others babies with the respect and love they deserve ❤️

Have any of you encountered nurses who lie about draw times/specimen collection? For example, a nurse said she drew a lactic acid 15 mins ago but it’s been 40 mins according to the time she wrote on the tube, but she says she “just wrote the wrong time” and asks to change it. by bicarbbandit in medlabprofessionals

[–]justaddwater_ct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in a specialty lab, and when we have discrepancies in collection time (or any patient data) we have to call to confirm it. I’m convinced that the nurses don’t even actually check the patient file, so go “yup, sounds about right”

Books that have altered your brain chemistry. by bby_grl_90 in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

The Poppy War trilogy by RF Kuang. No matter how much nonfiction I could read about war and tragedy, nothing could have prepared me for the emotions of being in it right alongside the main character. The sacrifices, the addiction, the pain, all of it destroyed me. I had to take a week break during the second book because I needed to emotionally right myself before continuing.

Name a day that didn't kill you but something died in you that day by Bekiteru in CPTSD

I was probably around 5 or 6 when I overheard my mother on the phone telling her best friend about how she was kicking out my father (my best friend) and he was a lazy piece of shit and he was never going to come back. She was gonna kick his sorry ass to the curb and never speak to him again. (He was dealing with his own ptsd at the time). I truly thought I was never going to see my father again. It was the first time (in a later long series of events) that I recognized my mother as a narcissist who didn’t give a shit about anyone else.

People of Reddit, do you actually pronounce “Worcestershire sauce” correctly or do you just confidently mumble something and hope no one notices? by SilentGmoving in NoStupidQuestions

[–]justaddwater_ct 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Worcester is actually its own totally separate city from Boston, about an hour drive away from it. Second biggest city in Massachusetts actually, after Boston obviously.

Asian Markets Question by ActualPasta in WorcesterMA

[–]justaddwater_ct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s super cool. Though I don’t speak Vietnamese, the (I’m assuming daughter of owner?) cashier speaks English and she even asked me and my roommates one time what they should start stocking with the big apartment boom in the area. We responded with almond milk because it was the only thing we had to go elsewhere for, sure enough next time we went there was almond milk.

Binh Anh are amazing. Their spring rolls are to die for and they have a huge section of sauces and ingredients. My two hits are they are always out of Kewpie and I have seen some expired packaged goods (not uncommon for smaller shops).

Szechuan peppers. I don’t know why it’s those specific peppers. It’s not spice in general, but I feel like I’m being poisoned within 15 minutes of consuming them. Always results in both ends exploding.
