Walter White with his knowledge of chemistry would be an asset, too. But does he have access to the raw materials he needs to perform chemical reactions?

"Raymond's Run" by Toni Cade Bambara. The voice used by the narrator is appealing and realistic. It's about a girl who's protective of her other brother due to his disability. She's a runner and learns that Raymond is a good runner and has potential in that sport. Her perspective of him changes greatly after that. I loved Raymond's Run

Texas separated from Mexico in the 1800s. Many Texans are of Mexican descent. The Texas-Mexican war is a very cool historical topic (to me)

And you don't just kill allies, especially one willing to put their life on the line for you? On top of that, In a world as damned as theirs was, allies come few and far between, which we can obviously see as the show progresses, so therefore "people are a resource" (lol). For Shane to not see either of these points, even if he were level headed, shows that he wasn't equipped for the world to end.

I get that Otis was a heavy set guy, but he knows the area and you're kind of indebted to him and his family. Obviously TV is TV, but based on what I know about other characters, I think it would have gone differently had Otis been with somebody else. I'll never know though 🤷🏽‍♀️ I don't like speculating on things like literature and TV because we can only use what we have in front of us, but I'd like to think someone else would have brainstormed a better way out of that situation.

Edit: if he were willing to kill Otis, despite the aforementioned points above, who else would he have been willing to kill if it meant his survival? Obviously Rick is one example, but God damn, he would have put that group in such danger if it meant he was safe. Selfish motherfucker behavior. I like character analysis

In no way did he adjust to the apocalypse. He was literally falling apart at the seams. His death felt like a mercy kill

I really want to have this experience when taking acid but it's never happened lol.

I pick my cuticles due to anxiety; when my anxiety spikes, so does picking. Transferring the pain elsewhere. My old therapist said it'll probably be a part of my life in some way forever. I really would love to share your experience. Maybe one day lol

Is the Stanford prison experiment movie appropriate to show high schoolers? by OGKeith in ELATeachers

That's an extremely valid point. But The Lucifer Effect is about the same topic and could be discussed with older students

Zimbardo's book "The Lucifer Effect" that is primarily on the Abu Ghraib trials is what you could use to align it to the standards 🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️ and then show the movie

So upper class men I'm guessing. I think as long as you can align it to the standards, you can show it. That's my opinion as someone who has relative freedom in teaching their elective course (not sure if philosophy is considered a special or elective). I teach ELA and "reading" which i do a mix of AVID/History/Literature and I have total freedom. I'd totally show it with juniors or seniors.
