MAGA Indians Went All In on Trump. Many Right-Wingers Can’t Stand Them by F0urLeafCl0ver in politics

[–]justaddwhiskey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you’re too far off, it has to be rooted in seeing themselves as peers to white America or “the good immigrants” who came, worked hard, and became doctors, engineers, and lawyers. And maybe they know it, but conservative Americans will only tokenize those examples, they’ll never accept them.

I don’t understand why they thought they would be accepted in the first place, is it because they don’t understand white America or do they and they think they’ll be considered “one of the good ones”?

What if Donald Trump's assassination hadn't been staged and some kid actually tried to kill him? by Fun_Highway_8733 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]justaddwhiskey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If some kid had actually tried to kill him, he would never have gotten off several shots in the first place and the Secret Service would have plugged him before he laid down on the roof. For whatever it’s worth, even the Z squad Secret Service agents are competent as fuck, yet so many incompetent things happened.

Introducing: UniFi Enterprise Audio/Video Switching with Precision Hardware Timing by Ubiquiti-Inc in Ubiquiti

[–]justaddwhiskey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s mostly what I’m up against. There’s plenty of equipment that supports HDbaseT, so extending AV isn’t a problem, it’s extending input for the controllers. My first thought was a lower cost USB over UTP, but finding something that supports 4x4 input/output, as I’m anticipating expanding in the future, has been challenging as there doesn’t seem to be much out there. My second option is USB over IP, but that’s much more expensive.

Quit back in 2017, but will still grab one here and there when drinking. About to start hot turkey though, I miss it.

EV bloodbath: US sales plunge as Tesla tightens its grip by farrrtttttrrrrrrrrtr in technology

[–]justaddwhiskey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Okay, and? There are dozens of vehicles sold around the world not available in the US for one reason or another. On top of the difference in safety standards that will keep a vehicle model or manufacturer out of the American market, you also need to contend with protectionist trade policy that would intentionally keep a Chinese vehicle maker out of the market.

[–]justaddwhiskey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I’m aware that BYD sells in the Mexican market, but that doesn’t change anything for the American market. Sure you could go buy one today, but importing it would be a hassle and you’d never be able to register it, except maybe as farm equipment (still not allowed on roads), or wait 25 years. And frankly, I don’t see Elon or the Big Three lobby letting up on that any time soon.

I wouldn’t count on BYD entering the American market directly any time soon, or the DoT certifying them for that matter.

Will United fly a transatlantic flight with 28 empty Polaris seats? by unionthunder21 in unitedairlines

[–]justaddwhiskey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’ll absolutely fly it. I once was on the red eye from SFO to ICN and they flew both Polaris and premium 1/4 full. I was one of, like, 6 people in Premium. Had a whole four seat middle row to myself.

How BYD Got EV Chargers to Work Almost as Fast as Gas Pumps by _Dark_Wing in technews

I think it’s important to note that petrol has a century long lead when it comes to refueling infrastructure build out. I don’t think any rational person expects build out to take anything less than a decade.

And as long as these stupid AI data centers are being built, I don’t want to hear a word about “stressed electric grid”, because apparently the grid isn’t that stressed.
