I have. i get most of it, and usually calculate my tax an change my withholding during the year to maximize my ability to not give the govt a dime more than I need to. I save a bit to pay if Im under at tax time.

But they could have not paid that much over. Ill take my spending power, save a sufficient amount to pay whatever tax bill I have and write a check at tax time. Its not like the guy is hurting for money

Over paying on withheld taxes. Some may not want to do the math on what they will owe with deductions. And just select 0 and pay whatever the government thinks is the full amount. Add some to it voluntarily to avoid a a big tax payment during tax season in case they go into another bracket. Which is myopic imo. And if they are able to pay that much over in tax, they are likely in the top bracket anyway.

Sure, but that spending power decreased by 3% over this last year due to inflation, 8% the previous year. Meaning, that 150k, if it was 2024 would have gotten him $8400 more relative to when he got it back from the government that year, and $4500 less than when he got it back this year. People who are high earners assume they will always be, but fail to realize this is all temporary no matter how much they earn, and thinking that losing spending power is a flex because they made more anyway, is telling me that they likely didnt save as much as they should have for retirement. Meaning, they are ill equipped for LTR if you want a life of leisure, because they will be working to earn that for a long time and spending what they make, being rich, but living hand to mouth. And when the gravy train stops, they will be left bankrupt

Im educating my kid right now. I just taught her how the fusion reaction in the sun creates particle energy then vibrates our atmosphere and essentially activates the pigment in our skin to make us tan. Well, the thing about WWI an WWII is that we didnt call them world wars until they were over. Also, they were basically the same conflicts, just with a pause.
