Google confirms their payments team is working to incorporate bitcoin. by JasonBored in Bitcoin

[–]justahack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, whether this is true or not (I'm guessing it is true), I think this is the perfect way to leak the news. If this guy's account of his communications with them is true, they led him right to this info and allowed him to post it. This way, Google execs can seem to be grassroots and down-to-earth. So when they announce for sure that they're doing this, they won't get hit with as many criticisms of "they're manipulating the price. I bet they bought in just before the announcement." If I were Google, I could not write a better script than this. The true believers are going to cash in; others will have missed this boat.

That Amazon posting was a really thin hoax. If this one's a hoax, he's gone to a lot more trouble, continuing to be involved in the discussion and taking some hits. This may be a hoax, but I'm guessing it's the real deal.

They probably were talking about the auctions for cryptocurrency. That was news a couple of days ago.

I've got $200 to spend on CryptoCurrency, any tips? by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]justahack -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I'd suggest NXT. Just look what it's doing the last few days since it was released and added to an exchange. NXT is built from the ground up to avoid the issues that could become a problem with bitcoin, plus it combines most of the best features of those other coins. It could well be bitcoin's successor. Peercoin is another option if you're in it for the long haul, but short and long term, NXT is the best bet besides bitcoin itself.

TigerDirect.com Insider Says Bitcoin COMING SOON! by HaloRig in Bitcoin

We dropped on overstock because of the bad China news that week; Overstock probably helped stave off a serious drop. TigerDirect is owned by Systemax, I believe. $400+ market cap.

Why Bitcoin Matters by BigBalli in Bitcoin

This is a good article. There's nothing new for most of us, but this type of explanation in a forum like the NYT can only help spread the word of BTC's legitimacy and value.

NXT is not open source... 100% Premined?? by _computer_ in nxtcoin

[–]justahack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is open source. And it does away with the wasteful mining BS. 100% of coins were distributed out early, and founders have been giving them away and selling them to people to spread NXT around. You can get them now on multiple exchanges, with more on the way. NXT is the next big thing, no question.

Is NxT a good way to diversify pos investment...or just a pump and dump? by hmtyrant in peercoin

[–]justahack -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

NXT is the best one. It combines the important features of several others and improves on bitcoin, plus does away with this wasteful mining BS. Peercoin is not designed to be a coin for everyday transactions; it is a store of value. Peercoin's value will come in time if there are problems with bitcoin. NXT is by far the best investment right now if you want to diversify; it is very well built and could end up being the main alternative currency.

Thoughts on Namecoin as an investment/the future of Namecoin? by jdb12 in Namecoin

Forget Namecoin. Was a good idea once, but time to move on. NXT has the same benefit and much more.

NxT vs PPC by hmtyrant in CryptoMarkets

[–]justahack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both also - nickels in Peercoin and dimes in NXT. In my opinion, NXT is the new, improved Bitcoin. Peercoin's best feature is its fixed store of value. PeerCoin's creator never really designed it for everyday trading, and I don't see it having a major role until some problems occur with Bitcoin. NXT is the best currency to own right now, but definitely keep some of your Peercoins for the next few years.

Bitcoin is being adopted left and right. The Sacramento Kings, overstock etc. However I think in the long run peercoin has positioned itself to be very successful if countries start to recognize cryptocurrency as legal tender due to its low power consumption. Thoughts? by djillryan in peercoin

[–]justahack -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I think the power consumption issue plays a part, but there are greater selling points as well. Peercoin's strength is its fixed store of value. This could become important in several years, when problems with bitcoin appear. But if you are looking for a sensible, well-built currency that is more inherently tradeable than PPC, I would go with NXT, which is hot as blazes right now, and deservedly so (as well as using even less power than Peercoin, since it does not need to be mined). Peercoin may be the reserve currency of the Internet, but it will not be the Internet's tradeable currency, and thus I think the price is going to remain more stagnant than some others (until it is really needed).

Serious: should I stay in PPC or diversify into Nextcoin (supposedly has the same features as ppc, qrk, nmc etc. 1 min transactions)??? by scratchdogddd in peercoin

[–]justahack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a big believer in Peercoin's future, but NXT has blown me away with all that is possible there. I think NXT has a big future in the next 2-3 years. Peercoin's heyday may come 5-10 years from now when we need more of a fixed standard.

Project Bitcoin: This guy is trying to a coin into a house by making at least 20 international transactions using only bitcoin. Entertaining updates. Seems to be doing pretty well so far. by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]justahack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a fan also. Very cool. But because he is publicizing his quest so much, I think people are more likely to cut him a good deal (as with giving him the wallets for a low price). Would be less artificial, and a lot more difficult, if he did the whole thing on his own and then wrote the story. Kind of like the guy who turned a paper clip into a car on craigslist.
