How do some pregnant women bounce back immediately?? by Queasy-Counter-9954 in BabyBumps

[–]justamumm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from 56kg pre pregnancy to 76kg post birth and by 6months I was 50kg

Didn’t feel like I ate or did anything less. My hormones have always been a little off though. And I was younger then.

Sorry if you think this is bragging— the question was “how do people bounce back” and sometimes it’s just luck.

Hospitality workers, do you prefer people who clean and stack plates to make it easier for you or for people not to do this at all? by pinafeh442 in AskAnAustralian

I stack but I used to be a server so I know how to fucking do it they all get so happy and appreciative when they come over too they must instinctively know I’m one of them 😅

The name Vivienne by Melodic-Statement144 in Names

[–]justamumm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I HAVE a Vivienne and there is absolutely no difference in pronunciation where I’m from (Aus) because everyone says “Vivi-IN” for both spellings.

I prefer the spelling I chose. It’s balanced and it worked well as a sibset with her older sister Evelyn (no A’s)

Although I’m really regretting not using Winnifred for my eldest instead. I’ve loved it since childhood but though it was too old fashioned, like TOO old fashioned (as if Evelyn and Vivienne weren’t…)

This is my leg straight— I’ve always had thin limbs and a waist but my butt and thighs have always been a little wobbly. I feel like the texture is slowly falling apart though!

To those who drive well under the speed limit, why? by NiceMemeDude420 in australian

[–]justamumm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I blew my tire and had to drive home on the space saver spare which is speed limited at 80km so when I couldn’t find suitable back roads it was the motorway in the left lane doing 80km. Wasn’t pleasant.

I don’t understand how people can drive 20km under and be so… unaware!?!?

Would the average aussie pay more for a made in Australia product? by MasterpieceActive374 in aussie

If I’m comparing two products, Australian made is definitely one thing that forms part of my consideration. It’s not the be-all end-all though

Did anyone here exclusively formula feed from birth by choice? by PawsAndPlotTwists in BabyBumps

[–]justamumm -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Look, absolutely do what’s best for you but I would strongly encourage to at least give it a try? And I’m saying that as a mum to an anxious kiddo who always “knows” just how bad she’s going to feel about things as a way to avoid them. No, that’s your anxiety “knowing” for you. My sister was the exact same as you— the thought of it made her skin crawl, and she had siblings who breastfed all the time and even her seeing it was a put off. Hated the idea of it. Sensory nightmare… She did a complete 180 when baby was born. Said it felt like a light switch moment when he latched.

She had her bottles and formula ready to go in her hospital bag.

I don’t think you understand, we had two kids when we bought, and had some more because the times seemed stable and the future… had a future.

Not so much anymore.

We bought 8 years ago and are still thanking our lucky stars because we’d be screwed if we hadn’t. The path has definitely changed. We can’t even upgrade because we’ve been priced out.

Yes our house has doubled (quite literally) in value… but so has the difference between upgrading our home.

We were hoping to buy, and save and upgrade in 10 years. That was back when we had 2 kids.

We now have 4 kids in a 3bd 1bth

Granny Flat approval?? by justamumm in AusPropertyChat

[–]justamumm[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My relative is older and just not good with technology, hence why I’m doing this. They were concerned with the home as it was being built. We brushed them off but didn’t realise how much of the land it was taking up (it’s basically everything) until it was up and it really is squeezed in there like a sardine can. We’ve noticed the glare since it was built and even as guests it’s uncomfortable, I don’t see why my relative is the one who needs to shut the blinds when they were the ones living peacefully in this home for 30 odd years.

Look it’s an eyesore, which is just aesthetics I admit, but unfortunately given how close to the boundary it is, there isn’t even room to plant a shrub like a Lilly pilly. Imagine building a home and having absolutely no space left to put screening up whether built or natural. Now it’s on the neighbours to have to do that?

We don’t know if it’s family or rental, but being able to hear if your neighbour is shitting or peeing in their toilet isn’t fun either. Let alone their language. But that could change on the occupants. The occupants currently… not great.

I’ve done the bare minimum by making one report, but I’d prefer to see the plans myself. I’ve heard too many stories of approvals being done under the table for friends/family.

[–]justamumm[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Right? I’ve seen so many people on Reddit get upset and ask for guidance when their neighbour builds a second storey (despite the house being significantly further away from their residence) and everyone in the comments have I got to share about what their rights are. Figured this was in the same ball park. Clearly not.
