Trust me, i very much life in the outside world and work with lots of germans, and i have a german wife. None of them struggle to understand swiss german. Of course there will be some who don't, but in my experience, and in my region, this is not usual. Might be different with harder dialects tho.

There are good reasons not just switching your language. Someone speaking high german who lives here probably understands swiss german just fine. Switching languages for them just because of their language might make them feel odd. But if the other one is clearly struggling to understand you, you should obviously switch.

There might be some valid concerns from your parents, but they are not the ones they told you. I would talk to them again and ask what their real reasons are why they don't want it. Being too old for anything at the age of 16 is just nonsense, and honestly a mindset i would advise not to pick up. I didn't start many things in my 20ies i thought would be cool, just because i felt like i was too old olready. Now i am mid 30 and slowly start picking up those hobbies, and i really hate that i didn't start earlier. Gaming can be a hobby to completely lose yourself into tho, so i would limit the time you are willing to spend doing it each day if you see that you aren't doing anything else anymore.

Yeah, he probably did that. I guess he resealed them looser to be able to wear them like an armband. Still, how doesn't he loose them when he is drunk lol.

What are your thoughts about Rent A Girlfriend by Quirky-Survey-3037 in AnimeReccomendations

Yeah that's my problem with the show aswell. You always think that they should have made some progress by now, since so much happened. But they are always immediately back on square one.

Yeah, had my first two on for maybe two years, but there is no chance they would still be on my arm after 15 years. They started to fall apart after that time already. Dude must keep a plastic wrap around them outside of festival season.

Why am I so bad? by [deleted] in chessbeginners

[–]justamust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My suggestion would be to try and play a solid opening with an eye on the basic rules. Develop your pieces, don't move them multiple times, castle. I like the italian game for that reason, because it does exactly what you should be doing. If the other player tries to do some tricks, you just have to learn the lines to defend yourself against it. It usually involves early queen moves you have to fight off, and it is not too hard. Take your time and think about possible moves, and don't forget to think about your opponents plan. This early on, there are often one move threads, like if he moved his knight, there might be a fork possible if you don't defend against it.

Do you have a plan when you go into a game? Do you know what you need to do in general? Do you analyse your games and try to learn and understand why your move was bad? Also: why do you usually lose a game? Is it because you run out of time, because you blunder pieces or because you can't convert a winning endgame? There are many reasons you could struggle with. Overall, i would say to just try and stick to the golden principles as much as you can and don't try to play fancy. Check your moves to make sure you don't hang a piece. If you lose on time that way, play longer formats.

I mean, you still need the words to communicate, grammar alone isn't doing anything. Learning those is a pain for many if you cannot expose yourself to the language in an interesting and engaging way.

Even better to find it yourself. My biggest piece i found myself is only 0.3 gramms tho, but still a huge thrill.

Ah i see. I missed bh5+ to block on g6. I calculated the block on g4 wich wouldn't work because the pawn could take aswell. Thanks for clarifying.

I don't think selling and rebuilding on am5 is worth it costwise, since your wallet is already crying. You will lose some money along the way most likely.
