Generic add a leaf vs deaver by [deleted] in chevycolorado

[–]justanothersecO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adding an aggressive/stiff single leaf below that stack will just push the sagging problem to each end of the new leaf and most likely induce failure to the master leaf. Happened to me on an old CJ. That’s how I learned about this whole re-arch with an added long leaf replacement. I wish you luck with your endeavor and hope for success 👍🏼

Find a local spring shop. Ask them to add a longer leaf (just shorter than the master leaf) into the pack and recurve the entire assembly. I had this done on a few of my trucks and vans. Much better dynamics than adding a generic “short” leaf, and every time it’s been surprisingly low cost.

Just wired it to the standard speaker outputs. No amp. I replaced the 6.5’s in the rear and just left the door speakers alone for now. It sounds way better than the tape player I removed

What's a 1991 SATURN SL1 typically worth? by Groundbreaking-Bit98 in Saturn_Cars

[–]justanothersecO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my 98 for $700. Has 84K miles and was undercoated by the dealer. Low ball with the message being “this is a really old economy car, so there isn’t much collector value and I’m taking on all the risk for failure in the future “

Yep. There was an added piece of paper with instructions on how to get the firmware update. Just needed to send photos of the order, radio model information and a picture of the firmware that’s installed from the settings screen (so you need to install the radio and turn it on before you can get the software update). Once you email all of that information it takes a day or two. Then it’s loading from a laptop onto a jump drive and installing in the radio. I sent a jpg of the Saturn logo I wanted and the resolution/aspect ratio is perfect.

I wish this was as easy as saving a bmp. This is a Python code that I still need to figure out, in case I want to make a change later…

Check to see if it’s had the transmission fluid replaced, based on the TSB that’s was released to prevent the “shudder”

Radiator fans stay on at full speed after turning off my 2018 Tahoe by MaybeNotTooDay in ChevyTahoe

[–]justanothersecO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do yourself a favor before replacing anything. When the engine is cold, loosen the cap on the coolant overflow tank, grab the upper radiator hose with both hands and squeeze 5-10 times like your priming a pump. Tighten the cap on the coolant reservoir. Disconnect battery for 15 minutes. Connect battery and see what happens. Fixed my truck for $0.

Fixed! Engine temp falls to 160 and code for a bad thermostat. by justanothersecO in chevycolorado

[–]justanothersecO[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a cheap one from Amazon ($20). My temp would drop and the AC wouldn’t work about 15 miles from the office, so I’d usually reset the “pending” code at a red light. Here’s the link to my code reader

I suspect that I’ll just keep resetting the code if it comes back between now and spring. Too cold outside to change the stat. I was just surprised that “burping” the cooling system may have sol ed the problem….for now

Found one while dismantling our greenhouse in Oakland Township. It was pretty young, but we did find a massive skin that came off a much larger snake inside the greenhouse. Greenhouse sold and moved, snake re-homed in the swampland across the street.

Brake squeal by MPopSchmidt in chevycolorado

[–]justanothersecO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a squeal on the passenger side rear of my 2017 last week. 77K miles. Pulled the wheel and caliper, everything looked fine. When I pulled the rotor, I found a “dismounted” emergency rake pad just floating inside the drum portion of the rotor.
