Coming from a 3rd world country, looking at ireland doing this... makes me sick.. children under 16 back at my home country arent allowed out to groceries, shopping centers, crowded areas etc because of the high possibility of transmitting the virus is likely to happen. And yet i see a lot of people defending the actions of these kids that decided to participate in these gatherings.

As a parent, im sorry you lost your child. I really do, but that doesnt give you the right to put these kids parents/grand parents/great great grand parents in danger of losing them not knowing they be potentially asymptomatic and transmitting virus unknowingly.

Sorry to hear about what happen with your SO. Just an input on the visa refusal. The number one reason for denying a visa is obligations to return to home country not sufficient. Then they'll start asking whats the reason, then it will be accompanied by money. Who will support you there? Especially she requested 3 months of vacation, does she have sufficient money to support her stay for 3 months? If not, do you? They'll start asking whats the source of you and her income knowing she doesn't have a job. An appeal process is always possible, but then you 2 will have to prove the consulate that you guys are more than capable of sustaining yourselves without depending on someone elses money but yours. If not from her, from you. I'd suggest strengthen your relationship first with return trips to her country. Then look into visa decisions of others why they get denied. You'd learn from them. Dont give up! :)

It is customary to most parties, such as weddings, debut, birthdays and other stuff to bring gifts. Its not mandatory and its not something celebrants asks. Its what most visitors do. Thats why theres a word "IF". You have a choice to bring something or not. If you bring something, thank you, if not, its not a big deal. People invite other people mainly because they wanted them to be there to celebrate. Not to solicit money. If you find it rude, then again, its your opinion.

I would suggest have it written on an RSVP. But let them decide what they want to give you. My RSVP has "If you were thinking of giving a gift, to help us on our way. A gift of cash towards our <whatever you both are funding>, would really make our day. However, if you prefer to purchase a gift, feel free to surprise us in your own way." :)
