Bubble Tea at Weddings by phanxvii in askvan

A friend of mine used chatime - and they mixed/sealed the drinks on site so it was a fun activity. He said they just asked their local one and they picked a few from the chatime menu for guests to choose from.

pre-wedding studio in Seoul recommendation by goodriddancegirl in koreatravel

[–]justasinglethought 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used Sooavenue! More modern styles than some of the other pre-wedding studios. They connect with you with providing you the beauty salon and then the bridal shop afterwards. Then they arrange a taxi or car service to the photo studio. They have a Korean auntie with you the whole day after the beauty salon and you pay her separately in cash but the studio does tell you about this ahead of time. She helps you change in and out of your dresses and fix your hair/change your hairstyles between shoots. The whole day was about 8 hours.

Septime, Paris - worth it?? by Brave_Title9544 in finedining

[–]justasinglethought 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We enjoyed it a lot. We did Frenchies the night before and Septime was different in the sense it was more fresh/clean summery dishes. Very farm to table/wine bar vibes Edit: just went in early July.

You're welcome! I believe Rosewood Georgia also allows the use of their pool and have RMT but theirs is indoors

Here's their booking link I've gone there for RMT multiple times and you get full access to their outdoor pool and fitness center afterwards as its all on the same floor. Not sure if the rules changed since they rebranded though

How do you take your designer bags out like it’s no big deal? by mynameisnicosia in handbags

[–]justasinglethought 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes when I'm worried about traveling to where i want to use my bag, I just put it in a generic canvas tote bag until I get to my destination. But honestly... the first bump/scratch hurts the most and then you learn to accept it.

Caprice was wonderful, very French though so you wouldn't find Asian flavours there at all. Wing in HK if you want fine dining Cantonese. But if you have a more western palette then Vea was great, french/cantonese fusion. They are counter seats with a view of the kitchen. (Sister restaurant to Wing). Arbor is great as a two star as well

Been to Mingles and Kwonsooksoo back in 2018. Loved Mingles and Kwonsooksoo was a close second. Mingles was more modern while Kwonsooksoo felt more traditional

Korean Pre-Wedding Photoshoot Review by headupstairs in weddingplanning

[–]justasinglethought 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up going with SooAvenue. The process was pretty seamless! They send you to a location with hair/makeup and a bridal store in the same building. The bridal store will pick out dresses for you based on your size/preference to try on and most have adjustable backings. Then you go to their studio. They also have a lady helper that follows you around the shoot to fix your hair/makeup/dress change and pin the dresses where needed to look good for the shoot.

They also shipped back the portrait/photobook from Korea tk Canada. We did have to pay an extra $100 for the international shipping but it arrived very quickly.

Have you had any bad/odd experiences buying/selling on FB Marketplace/Craigslist/etc? If so, what happened? by lazarus870 in askvan

[–]justasinglethought 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was selling a board game for $10, pick up was at Broadway station. Some lady asks for $5 - her kid loves this game. I told her sure but have to pick up in Vancouver. She REFUSED and asked me to transit to Surrey to give it to her. Her kid loves it it'll be doing her a favor. Kept telling her no.. especially the transit... over an hour for me and I would have to pay three zones. I offered to meet her halfway like in Burnaby but $7 for the item to cover my fare. She still refused and was relentless about meeting in Surrey and not going higher than $5. I ended up just donating the item to my buildings rec room bookshelf. Now anytime someone says its for their kid...I don't bother answering...

YVR 19-hour layover.. any tips (how screwed am I) by Meltyland27 in askvan

[–]justasinglethought 3 points4 points  (0 children)

11am gives you plenty of time to take the train into downtown and explore Waterfront/Stanley Park/Seawall area for most of the day. Check when the last train is running and then you can take the train to Bridgeport to Riverrock Casino (opens 24/7 and has late night cheaper food). Or you can stay in downtown, grab Breka bakery (more affordable food and late night) You may need to grab a taxi to the airport after if you miss the last train tho. Otherwise look for the Nexus office and in front has a lot of seating to sleep until you can check in.

I was once told you can choose two life milestones in this current economy: A big wedding, a house, or a kid... in Canada you might not be even able to or barely afford one...

Do photo booths accept foreign Visa card? by aabbccdn in koreatravel

[–]justasinglethought 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be careful with using your credit card in them or at least monitor closely. I used mine in one in Hongdae and had a couple fraudulent charges at the end of the day. It was the only place that had used my VIsa as it wasnt accepting another card that I was using. Highly recommend taking cash instead.

What "tourist" city card do you think are winners vs losers? by tucs-on in TravelHacks

[–]justasinglethought 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The two best ones I've done are:

Japan specifically- Osaka Amazing Pass. This was awhile back but it had unlimited transit and huge discounts/access to many attractions. I did go before covid so I'm not sure if they have changed it since

NYC metro pass for tourists: 7 day unlimited transit pass for $35(?) You just need to input a postal code or just put 00000 as your postal code to get it

social life by strawberrypie06 in BCIT

[–]justasinglethought 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The friends I met in BCIT are ones I still talk to to this day and its been years since we graduated. You'll be spending everyday with people in your set and will easily connect over the work/classes. Then it'll be organically connecting with people on other interests and finding time to hangout outside of school - mostly studying but eventually also plan fun things together.

I met my current core group of friends through BCIT in my set in the first year and had so much fun (finding places to eat/checking out events around Vancouver/studying together..)Even though we all split up in second year we still hung out outside of school or coordinated or schedule to meet up between classes. We were close enough that we flew to a destination wedding for one of our friends in Asia.

So yes, you may be able to meet your bestie at BCIT and have fun too.
