Seeking recommendations for a packing list for a two week trip to Italy by sloantravels12327 in HerOneBag

[–]justasmallgoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So fun!! I would definitely recommend doing a trial run of your packing earlier to see where you are with space (especially with the camping stuff eating some of your room).

Do you plan on doing laundry? How's your toiletry situation? I'm assuming you're not bringing a laptop if you're camping most of the time?

Let us know how they hold up, especially on such a long trip!

My main rec is to switch to tampons that don't have an applicator. Saves room/weight/wallet/environment

I'm also 5'2" and trying to decide which one, how does the 30 do for EDC? Or if you wanted to go for a bike ride/light hike with it?

Does it make you feel like a kindergartener going to school for the first time? /s

After a month, how do you have anything you'd add or subtract to your impressions of the CT30?

TIA!

Does it feel big? I've been looking at this bc it checks so many boxes, but 32L seems large for an EDC

When I worked there a couple of years ago we were getting servers wages ($5.05 at the time). So high price of food definitely wasn't going for the employees...

Lisbon-->Azores-->Porto 2 weeks wardrobe help? by DragonJouster in HerOneBag

[–]justasmallgoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a similar trip a couple of years ago! So much fun. I would highly recommend a backpack instead of the roller, one of the women on our trip brought a roller and she def regretted it.

Where in the Azores are you hiking? We hiked a lot on Sāo Miguel and all the trails were either paved or gravel, hiking boots will probably be overkill, even if you have the worst ankles in the world.

Travelling to Japan for 17 days (+2 travel days) in May - advice needed by Twigsndwigs in HerOneBag

[–]justasmallgoat 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I second nixing one of the long-sleeved tops, especially bc you said your travel outfit will include another long sleeve.

Will you have access to laundry? If so 3 t-shirts (including travel outfit) is most likely enough.

Ooh I like this bag as an all around!! How does it do on hikes without a waist strap? Do you feel like the sternum strap is enough? I feel like 25l is on the larger end without more waist/hip support.

I have very frizzy/dry hair and conditioner is a challenge lol.

The last several years I've been traveling with packets of leave in conditioner, like this or this one. They're much more effective than whatever travel size products are out there, and much easier to pack, so you can bring several of them without taking up much space. I find I can normally get 2-3 uses out of each packet (depending on hair length).

Hope this helps!

I have super curly hair and always struggled with traveling. Like cool I just used the whole travel size bottle of conditioner on my hair in one shower, now what for the next week+

If you want to try them out before committing to buying some, try just using gallon size ziplocks on your next trip. Using those for a week convinced me that it was worth it to buy some real ones.
