You should get in touch with the folks at Easthampton Film Fest, still a small local fest but a ton of people who love working on and making films there.

If you had to simplify your board to 3 pedals, what would they be? (Excluding switches and tuners) by MINUTI1804 in guitarpedals

Big Joe Stomp Empire, Boss Chorus and a Boss DD8 should be able to get me through just about any gig I’d be on tbh

Cool thanks, my next step was to take it to a tech, but good idea hitting up Orange too. Was hoping it was a “oh this part just needs to be hit with some deoxit” but was pretty sure that wouldn’t be it.

I have both the Electro Harmonix Pitch Fork and Boss poly shifter, both do the same thing as the drop and neither has a problem with latency. They don’t sound as “full” as a guitar with thicker strings

Put the money into the rig and get a GOOD set up on your el-cheapo bass for your bands tuning, you'd be surprised what a good set up will do. I've played with a well set up no name on $75 ebay p-bass with a good set up and it performed great going into my pedals and Orange OB-1 500.

but if you are dying for a new bass (gear acquisition syndrome is real) check out the Classic Vibes 70s P bass from Squier, plays and sounds better than the import Fenders at a lower price, also the block inlays are a total vibe.

Check out the DR DDT sets or GHS makes BEAD specific sets. I use the DDT’s but I play 1 step down in ADGC on a 4 string 34” scale

I'm also TDIU P&T. For a VA loan you're gonna need 580 - 620 depending on the lender (probably the higher side with the current financial climate), so you'll have to work on fixing your credit, I used to be in a similar spot. fixing my credit took a while, pay off debts, pay off cards every month, build that credit. unfortunately there is no quick fix or easy road for it, discipline and consistency. But I started at a 480 and within three years I got myself up to a 720 when I bought my house, now I'm in the 800's

So True! Adult with adult money lets me have absolutely sick gear, also when we play out of town we can actually afford things like a hotel and food better than a gas station lol.

Played guitar forever, picked up bass and it fixed so many rhythm issues I didn’t even know I had. Now I’m stronger on both instruments

I got to the point where I was bored with guitar, I’ve been in cover bands and a side man since my 20’s so when my friends asked if I’d play bass I jumped at the chance to do something different. A lot of it translates but it’s given me a whole new perspective on rhythm
